Its not easy to judge from the scoreboard but it seems that Dani cant get rid of bad habits.
Its not the defeat itself that actually hurts, after all it was the first match of the season
and all players are trying to find their form. It is the way Dani surrendered at the crucial
third set which reminded me the second half of the 2008 season ( against Zvonareva,
Cirstea etc ). I agree that the pressure is a major factor that affects Dani's game, but she
has to deal with it, especially when she plays against players ranked sooo lower than her
and everyone expects from Dani to win - no disrespect to Errani who obviously played better
and deserved to win. And the funny thing is that Schiavone and Ai were disqualified as well.
It was a good but wasted chance...Anyway, Sydney will be even more difficult.
I hope things will improve there.

A very diappointing start into the new season... :-( After the first set i was so sure, that Daniela will win this easily and that she would be in a good form, but then... I hope that she can gets self-confidence by the doubles and Ai and that I can see her in a better form in melbourne...

Oh no, bad start, totally unexpected.

I hoped my faves will forget 2008 and make a new start...
But Bondarenko lost to Czink, Vaidisova plays crappy (altough she won) and Danka was bagelled by Errani.
Hope Szavay will find back, or a bomb comeback from Golovin.

I'm so afraid due to Australian Open. Imagine Danka losing 1 or 2nd Round. Horrible.
She's no hero. Vaidisova doesn't slither on the ground.

Hopefully Daniela gets some match rhythm and experience in doubles.
This win should give her back some confidence also for the singles.

Daniela and Ai got a comfortable win in the doubles and, like krima said, doubles is going to be important for Daniela as doing well there should eventually transfer into singles. It's good that she's playing with Ai as Daniela gets really gets on with her and they enjoy playing together and having fun playing is going to help Daniela's motivation and confidence.
Black and Huber will be a very difficult match but Daniela and Ai can definitely be competitive against them. In future tournaments Daniela and Ai can do very well and be one of the top teams as they were in 2006. Daniela's doubles success then transferred into singles success in late 2006 and 2007.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

I would only repeat myself.

it doesn't seem as if much has change. Unfortunately. Without watching the match, I've seen enough of Daniela to believe that this match was mainly her making errors. Is Errani a good mover? If she is one of those players who get a lot back, she might have succeeded in frustrating Daniela enough, so that Daniela tried to hit winners way too often.

i am going with you about this

That's both of us. That's another one going with you Christina. Look. It's not that it's so hard to get back, it's just not hardly going back easy. For one reason or the other. And that's taking it out.

For a foot hold up the rankings -- and I'd say no one deserves it more than she does (now more than ever?) -- she should proceed only with that situation.

Where will she be when she is there. What's that going to require? She knows how to make it. Everything else follows.

Make those choices rather than being in defiance. It happens very rarely that players succeed while defying their own game. It's her defiance that bites her. Only she is in control of that, it can't be worked-out now. It's the expected result.

In other words: start from the middle, act like it's yours, don't keep trying to reinvent this. That way fantasy land finally does come to an end.

A great win for Daniela and Ai, and quite unexpected. They now take the place of the top seeds in the draw, and will face either Azarenka and Schiavone (seeded 3) or Jans and Rosolska in the semi-final. If they were to go any deeper into this tournament then i'm sure Daniela would have alot more confidence for Sydney.
