Anna-Lena Groenefeld (GER) v (WC)Yanina Wickmayer (BEL)

That can't be right. That looks suspiciously like a good draw and we all know Daniela doesn't get those. ;)

a lot of the players in her quarter are up and comers. Not sure what form they are in and how they are indoor, but I think this is a good chance to reach the SF.

At last, a good draw. Dani has never played Parmentier, Arvidsson or Lisicki in the past.
They might be decent players but Dani has to win the first 2 rounds, no matter her
recent condition. It is a good chance to end a bad season in a good way.

Yes it's a great draw for Daniela, and she should really justify her number 3 seeding here. Parmentier and then either Arvidsson or Liscki should be easy enough, and I would expect Daniela to come out on top against Cirstea aswell, who has some form coming into this tournament but shouldn't bother Daniela too much.
If Mauresmo can cause an upset by knocking out Dementieva then Daniela has a reasonable opportunity of getting to the final, but as it stands at the moment with Dementieva in the same half of the draw I don't see Daniela going further than the semi-final stage.

On Laura Robson - she too has a good draw, playing Benesova in the opening round, and then most likely a very-out of form Chakvetadze in round 2 (if she can get past the Czech of course).

I don't like the 2nd round opponents at all. In current Daniela's form Arvidsson can beat her, so can Lisicki if she has a good day. Out of form Dulko, Domachowska, Ruano Pascual or Garbin would be easier opponents imo. Parmentier is one of the few top 100 players I never saw play.

I agree with you. Arvidson is some kind of player who can take advantage when you have a bad day. And Lisicki, if I remember correctly, she has just reached a final last week. So they both are not easy opponents at all.

Pauline Parmentier, Daniela's first opponent, is 1-10 against the top fifty this year. Her lone win came over Agnes Szavay in straight sets in the spring. Even considering the decline in Daniela's game of late, I'm pretty confident with this first match.

1-10?? That a bit relieved..
I hope Daniela will advance more than the 2nd round..
She have a pretty decent draw here..

Oh my god Agnes that was sooo embarassing...

Now i think it's a good decision to play this Tournament. The draw is weaker than Linz (well, not much, how disappointing for Linz that Luxembourg was able to get Dementieva, Chaky, Danka, Caroline and Momo). Danka's draw is well, it could have been better, but i'm satisfied overall. In Linz, she just would have suffered another heartbreaking loss like Indian Wells. It'll be so beautiful if she could finish her crappy season with a good Tournament.
