Another really tough entry list for a Tier II tournament. Hope for a good draw.

This is a strong field so there won't be any easy matches. I thought that Daniela would be seeded if there was a withdrawal, which is probable as three of seeds are in the Beijing semis and there's always the possibility of one of the Williams sisters dropping out, but then I remembered Schnyder went above Daniela in the rankings so she'd get seeded if there was a withdrawal. Boo. But I don't think there's a huge difference between being seeded 5-8 and being unseeded in the first round as Daniela would get a pretty decent, at minimum, opponent in the first round. So much depends on Daniela's level and she showed good signs of getting back into form in Beijing and if Daniela plays well she's got a great chance of beating most first round opponents. But most of these players are capable of beating her, especially if she doesn't play well. Hopefully she gets a decent draw and can go on a good run, but I think we have to take it one match at a time.
I just hope Daniela doesn't get Venus in the first round.

Based on the ratio of quality of field to points available, this may be the toughest tournament all year. If you look at last year's draw, it was much of the same thing. Were Daniela inclined to skip a week during the fall schedule, this would be a great time to do it. It also comes right in the middle of the season (3 tourneys before and 3 after it).
I do understand that there may be other factors in play here such as the proximity of Germany to her homes in Monaco and Slovakia, she's fluent in the language, and this may be one of her favorite cities to visit for all I know. But from a strictly numerical and objective perspective, this would be a good week to take a pass. The subjective factors matter to, though.

Quite strange to see Daniela unseeded in a Tier II event, even if it is a 32-draw. Very competitive field, and the return of the Williams' sisters makes life even harder for Daniela and all the other players. Jankovic and Kuznetsova will possibly be a little jaded after their efforts in Beijing so they could be reasonable seeds for Daniela to be drawn with. However I think she has a better chance against Radwanska or Zvonareva (despite the Russian being in good form).
Hopefully Daniela will not meet a seed until the second round, providing her with a better chance of a win and some much needed ranking points. Even the unseeded players are tough though. However, the likes of Bartoli and Bammer could be good first-round match-ups for Daniela.
Hopefully we will see Daniela in the second round but it does all depend on the draw.

An expected tough draw considering the entry list. She still doesn't have to face W sisters, so that is not too bad.
About Vera, she is in a very good form now with high motivation for the YEC, so that will be a very difficult task for Daniela here. If Vera plays like she did in Beijing (I only watched her match against JJ), I would say a 35%-65% chance for Daniela-Vera (Daniela has never won against her and lost with such easy scores). But nothing is impossible, the most important thing is we hopefully can see an improvement in Daniela's performance in Stuttgart.

A very tough draw, but I'm not too dissapointed that it's Zvonareva in the opening round. I would prefer Daniela to play Vera over someone like Venus Williams so it could have been worse.
Most of the other unseeded players have tough draws too. Schnyder is playing Kuznetsova in round 1 and Vaidisova has drawn Li.
Doubles draw for Daniela and Szavay is tough too, playing the Wimbledon Champions in the opening round. Not expecting much from this match.
In the singles, if Daniela can get past Zvonareva, then I think she has a chance against either Cibulkova or Baroli so it could turn into another quarter-final showing which would be good for her ranking.
