Hantuchova advances at China Open

BEIJING (TICKER) —Daniela Hantuchova had little trouble advancing to the second round of the $600,000 China Open.

The seventh-seeded Slovakian cruised through her first-round match of the Tier II hardcourt event on Monday, defeating Gisela Dulko of Argentina, 6-3, 6-1.

Hantuchova next faces either Thailand’s Tamarine Tanasugarn or fellow countrywoman Katarina Srebotnik in the second round.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

from Fabian Lollipop on tennisforum:

My friend 水泥(aka Shuai.P) went to the tournament today. He watched quali day 1 matches and met several main draw players on practise session. He will be at the tournament in following days.He would like to share these pics here.(his camera is quite decent)

Daniela generally pratised volley and movement on court. She collected balls by herself instead of her coach. She looked very concentrated and she didn't autograph anyone though lots of people watched her practise.

Oh Daniela, please play well!

well Tanasugarn just beat Srebotnik 64 75. Persoanlly I think this is the better match-up for Danka.

And even though Tanasugarn is 36-16 this year, I don't find her that consistant. Of those 36-16 she is 11-2 on ITF circuit and 25-14 (still better than Danka) on WTA. Take away the 9-2 on qualifying and she is 16-12 in WTA main draws and Grand Slam main draws.
Last week she lost to Savchuk in qualifying rounds.

An unexpected result imo, but i think its better for Dani this way.
She is better player than Tamarine, she has one day of rest
and she must feel very good after the easy victory against Gisela.
On the other hand, this is all theory.
Dani has to prove on court that she can win again a few games in a row.
I believe that if she has a simply decent game tomorrow, she will qualify
to the quarter finals.

In paper, Daniela is the favourite of course. I also think it is better for Daniela not to play Katarina. Tamarine is an experienced player, but she doesn't have any thing special. I think Kata lost because she is still tired from Tokyo. She led 5-1 in the second set and then lost it. If Daniela can play well, she should be fine. Hopefully she can reach the QF.

I'm not. However, I do feel that this is as good a chance as it gets for her to get into a QF and get some points.
