Safina has withdrawn. Zvonareva gets her place in the draw. Wozniacki moves up and is seeded 9 on Zvonareva's old place. Wozniacki's old place will be a LL.

Dulko's a good draw for the first round as she's on a losing streak, her hardcourt results have been pretty poor this year and Daniela thrashed her the last time they played in Linz. This is a match Daniela really has to win as this is a really good opening draw and a great chance for a win and get some form and confidence.

I'm not bothered that she's not playing doubles here as right now I want Daniela to play doubles to help her singles and I don't think that playing doubles here would be that much of a benefit. I think it would have been good if Daniela could have partnered Szavay again as they played well in Tokyo and would probably do well here. But I think Daniela should only play doubles if she can get a good partner, otherwise I don't think it's worth it. It would be a distraction to play doubles with a random partner as there would be minimal chance to establish an understanding or rhythm and it would take away from Daniela's singles preparation.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

YAAAAAY!!!

same scoreline as in Linz too! though im not reading much into that. :)
made a couple of unnecessary errors in the first set, which could have been much easier, like 6-1, but happy with this win.
hoping she can build on this, and play better in the next round, which will obviously be tougher than this.

it feels like it has been ages since daniela's had a comfortable win like this. i was actually able to relax while following the match.

A much better performance from Daniela today. Anyway, I feel like she starts off really slow. Thanks God Gisela too, so that Daniela can slowly get into the match and run away with it. But next match she should be more ready. Sometimes, she was not patient enough in the rallies (the first couple breakpoints, she wasted them with UEs) and made mistakes but she did it better towards the end of the match.
Hopefully we can see at least the same performance for the next match. I would say well done Daniela.

(7) Hantuchova d. Dulko 6:3, 6:1 in 72 min

It was a good performance from Daniela with a little bit slow start. In 1st set she made too many errors from BH/FH, wasted BPs in 4th and 6th game. But in the 2nd set she played well. Dulko was not really dangerous. Quality of the live stream was good. Next is Srebotnik or Tanasugarn.
