It was here were her run to the year end championships started and although that is well, well out of reach this year, it would be nice if this tournament could kick start her comeback and get her some morale boosting victories Scott |

I think it should be a turning point of some sort myself. She has to have the will and tenacity and enthusiasm and desire going in, to make this happen here, even if it is an easy shot at propped up target thats set up for her. I wonder if she would take it or not. Maybe a rest is what she needs, maybe not. |

After what went on at the US Open, Daniela just has to get back playing and winning matches again. Bali is a good place to start as it's a low profile tournament with a relaxed atmosphere and Daniela had a good time there last year, so she's got good memories of Bali. I've not seen the full entry list but it's not as strong - at least at the top - as previous years, although Pennetta and Shnyder are in good from right now and Schiavonne and Petrova are there as well. I don't think we can take anything for granted regarding how Daniela will do here as her form isn't great and she lost to Melinda Czink here in 2006. One match at a time and hopefully Daniela gets some wins, plays well and builds her form and confidence for the rest of the year. |

I also think this is a good place for Daniela to start over again. She doesn't have to face top player too soon. So hopefully if she can win her first match, she can take it from there and build up her level. About the entry list, I heard Petrova and Na Li are also there, rite?? If so, then she really has to pay attention. The entry list is not weak at all. |

In recent years Davenport as World no 2, Kuznetsova as US Open Champion, Myskina as French Open Champion and Jankovic as no 3 have played Bali. This year there isn't a top tenner in the field. |

Players are not usually thinkers. Thinking is a waste of time. Coaches do the thinking, right? OK I will stratigize for you at this time (Like trying to drive the bus that is picking me up. Incredibly frustrating): She has lost a lot of matches over the months; success has not been achieved. Things appears to be getting worser for the girl. OK so is there a problem? (See this question she need to answer "yes". Admit there is something that is causing failure. Identify it as the "problem" or culprit. IE Something is wrong, not the way I want it to be.) Now that we have a problem, say weak backhand, we have points of attacking the problem (these are more than just options). a. fix the problem (ie go on practice court and work on backhands, strengthen those muscles, ect.) b. avoid/work around the problem (Why hit a backhand when you can run around?) c. protect your vulnerabity (hit it down the line so it comes back a forehand) d. turn the problem into a strength (dropshots and slices) The approach to the problem is basically in that order. (a boxer with a lip that bleeds easy cant "fix" the problem like a weak left hook. First, he needs to protect that vunerability. This could mean an entirely different boxing techique.) This what she needs to do. Accept there is a prolem (ie I suck). Want, for the love of God, to do something about her problem (is it better not to suck? hmm, yes it sucks to suck). Then Attack the problem itself. Dont worry on "hmm maybe the backhand I just ran around would have sucked (therefore I not worthy to win)". Take the forehand winner every time. There is no rule she has to fuck with a shity backhand. It is going against the grain. Will it be obvious she has a problem? Yes it will expose her weakness but she will still get the chance to win this way. Now her problem is not like an ACL (broken leg). It is simple and not very complicated. Could it take her toff he tour just like a broken leg? Yeah and that would be so incredibly stupid. Fight the problem not the game. Its not the games fault you have a problem. |

Hantuchova and Pennetta should get through to the second round in the doubles but the duo from Taipei could be tough (Chan Yung-Jan being a very good doubles player). Hopefully this draw will provide another opportunity for Daniela to get a match win and build some confidence. No singles draw yet, but entry list is out: 1. HANTUCHOVA, Daniela (SVK) / Rank.12 2. SCHNYDER, Patty (SUI) / Rank.13 3. PETROVA, Nadia (RUS) / Rank.17 4. PENNETTA, Flavia (ITA) / Rank.18 5. SCHIAVONE, Francesca (ITA) / Rank.25 6. WOZNIAK, Aleksandra (CAN) / Rank.41 7. ERRANI, Sara (ITA) / Rank.43 8. LI, Na (CHN) / Rank.44 9. PENG, Shuai (CHN) / Rank.52 10. DOMACHOWSKA, Marta (POL) / Rank.56 11. CHAN, Yung-jan (TPE) / Rank.70 12. BARDINA, Vasilisa (RUS) / Rank.70 SR 13. GARBIN, Tathiana (ITA) / Rank.71 14. AMANMURADOVA, Akgul (UZB) / Rank.74 15. RODIONOVA, Anastasia (RUS) / Rank.75 16. CRAYBAS, Jill (USA) / Rank.79 17. VAKULENKO, Julia (UKR) / Rank.83 18. KUDRYAVTSEVA, Alla (RUS) / Rank.91 19. PASZEK, Tamira (AUT) / Rank.94 20. KING, Vania (USA) / Rank.97 21. YUAN, Meng (CHN) / Rank.98 22. NAKAMURA, Aiko (JPN) / Rank.106 23. CZINK, Melinda (HUN) / Rank.111 Petrova becomes one of the top four seeds, making Schiavone the number 5 seed. There's a good chance Daniela will play Li Na in the quarter-finals, which would be a very tough match. Overall I think Daniela could end up with a poor singles draw. There are alot of dangerous floaters, including Peng, Chan, Vakulenko, Kudryavtseva and Paszek. Hopefully she'll draw someone like Czink or Nakamura in round 2, who haven't been playing well recently. |

In this instance I probably would of prefered that she didnt have a bye. The second round match up could be a stumbling block but Savchuk and Kudryavtseva are certainly people that Daniela can beat comfortably. Im not interested in Li at the moment until Daniela gets to the quarter final Scott |

not sure what to think with her current form in the second round she plays one of the players i hate the most : Savchuk , she ruined my antwerp week two years ago with her victory vs Daniela and she also dislikes her, she's a real bitch in the quarterfinal the most dangerous opponent from the 5-8 seeds Na Li and a possible semi vs two players who beat her at the last 2 US Opens: Vakulenko and Groenefeld, also Paszek and Pennetta are on that part of the draw. |

Im not interested in Li at the moment until Daniela gets to the quarter final Scott I don't agree. I think you said this that Daniela has a convincing win in her pocket for her 2 Round Match-Up. I thought that after her Sugiyama Win in Beijing and then she got bounced. Ok, a win is good for her confidence and it's good for Danka to win some matches, but i would prefer a good training and watch the match kudryavtseva-savtchuk and look for some tactics. Btw the guys from wtaworld told me that Danka's going to play zurich (no surprise). I will be there at friday, so hopefully she will reach QF. I saw her 2 times in zurich, 2006 against Svetlana and in doubles against Black/Stubbs, and 2007 on Kidsday. She gave me an autograph and took a photo with me ![]() Sure that fall won't be like the fall 07. Just give your best Danka. I'm sure you willl get back on track. |
