We've got to be positive. Daniela's only one break behind, she was in a worse position against Govortsova and Cornet isn't 100%. This match isn't over.

Oh no...

So disappointed... after she fought back in the third... damn!

She's a much better player than this cornet... and i can't imagine Danka gave all or Cornet played like No.1 she just fooled around in the 2nd. This loss hurts very much, more than Kleybanova, Sugi, Govortsova and Wozniacki... (I can't believe what i writing... she lost to such players...)

shame she was unable to hold serve at 4-5 in both sets... and again versus Cornet at US Open (3rd Round, if she goes that far)

It hurts so much that she loses to such nobodys... what can i say? Struggling Danka, Nicole *not interested in tennis anymore*, Agnes Chokevay, Tatiana Injurin... 2008 is to forget...

I wonder it myself. Anyway, that is not really an unexpected result given the form Daniela is in right now. Just wonder how much time does she need more to get back in track? It's been already long time since she's come back she is still playing like that. I am speechless.
I am waiting if she can do anything with the draw in US open, can't be worse than last year though.

Not sure if you saw my post before but she was screwed on the last game. At 0-30, her first serve was clearly in but was called out. The chair conceded she saw the mark but would not overrule it. Daniela didn't shake the chair's hand.

On the whole, Daniela lost this match much more than Alize won it.

Same here. I was not disturbed by Kleybanova and Sugi... I was a bit surprised versus Govortsova and Wozniacki (because she played awesome tennis against sugi in 1r). Now this. if it would have been Vaidisova we could have say her game just does not suit dankas, but against cornet... Danka never had big problems against her.

It's hard to be a fan of Danka... even at her best she's able to disappoint me (i nearly cried after Luxembourg Final).

will it have consequences if you don't shake the umpire's hand?

very sad for Daniela, i really thought she could win this in two sets.
But let's sta positive, her matches are becoming closer already, she didn't lose in straight sets in her opening match but in three sets in the third round..

Her US Open draw does not look bad at all... Even if it's alize again in 3R, it could have been much worse.

But she has to improve her level, if she does not, she will be crushed by safina

I think there's only so much excuses you can give to Dani. She's recovering from a foot injury so the losses against Sugi, Olga and Wozniaki are excusable but this match was winnable imo. After Cornet took an injury timebreak...her game seemed to alarmingly deteriorate.

Oh well good luck in New York but like I have been saying I'm just waiting for next year. One thing I've learnt from supporting Dani is that you just can't get your hopes up because most of the time you just end up dissapointed

In addition to the chair, there's another b*tch who I have to talk about here: Mary Jo Fernandez. During the post-match interview, she asked, no told, Alize that she was getting frustrated at Daniela's slow pace. Alize said she really wasn't and then went to say how happy she was to win. Fernandez asked her again about the slow pace and Cornet just said that she plays slow but it's not a big deal. Who the hell is this woman to tell another player what she was feeling during a match? And after she tells you it's not a big deal, who the hell are you to tell her any different? And instead of dwelling on Daniela's slow pace as she did throughout, try analyzing the match. She also made no mention of the blown call in the last game (Fowler on play-by-play did of course). During the match, the announcers spent an embarrassing amount of time talking about anything other than what we were watching. Mainly, they talked up the "real stars" like the Williams sisters and they even interviewed James Blake at the beginning of the second set, ignoring 2-3 games of the match.
Another low point was when resident moron Chris Fowler recalled last year's tournament: "Davenport reached the final against Szavay but pulled out there to play the US Open the next week." A few problems with that: Davenport was not an active singles player until last year at Bali, so she didn't even play singles last year let alone retire. Szavay did reach the final but it was her who retired against Sveta there. This embarrassing error went uncorrected.
