Yes, it's on ESPN2 here in the US. Cornet breaks back to 3-2. That was the first bad game Daniela really played. Overall, the level of both ladies is pretty high to start.
4-3 - Terrible game for Daniela serving at 4-2. She had pretty easy winners at 15-30 and 15-40 but missed both badly with her forehand.
6-3 - This was more because Cornet was getting really error prone, but we'll take it.

0-2 - Cornet playing much better. Daniela has been consistently good, not great in this match. Her opponent's play has been all over the place.
1-2 - Daniela won a great point at 15-40 to break. In a reversal from what we've seen recently, Daniela is the one attacking the weak serves of her opponent. Cornet's movement has kept her in the match, though.
3-4 - Cornet DFs twice to give Daniela two break points. She blew one royally while Cornet just clipped the line with a winner on the other. Cornet appears to be favoring her left leg a bit.
Cornet calls out the trainer, Daniela really missed a golden opportunity in the last game to break. They wrapped Cornet's leg but she's continuing.
ESPN2 says Cornet has a left quad strain which is pretty serious. I'm surprised she's still out there.
4-4 - Two bad errors from Daniela but she still holds. She needs to play more conservatively with her opponent hurt.
4-5 - Cornet holds to love. Four UEs from Daniela. Really bad considering her opponent is hurt.
4-6 - Another awful game. If Daniela can play even decent she should win because Cornet is struggling physically.

Maybe a bit late as the next match has already started, but congrats to Daniela for the win against Govortsova. Great fight.

Hopefully that match gave her enough confidence, so that she can also win today.

Off-topic, Daniela has an excellent for the US Open.


That is really a nice draw. Although Cornet and especially Safina are in good form, but this is GS. There are no easy rounds. But maybe one of the best draws at the US Open ever for Daniela.

Cornet does not appear to be hurt as badly, but it's the same idea. Her opponent is limited and yet she's still going for everything (and missing). She needs to deviate from her usual style of play and try to stretch out some points.

0-2 - Broken at love. Three more errors, this is beyond awful.
0-3 - At 30-30, she just let a ball go that clearly hit the line. Then another error.
1-4 - Cornet had two aces which is a huge surprise because she's a bad server.
2-4 - Pretty good game for Daniela. Cornet is out of challenges by the way.
3-4 - Break! Great game as she had no errors and had to overcome a bad line call.
4-5 - Both players hold at 40-15. Daniela is now also out of challenges.
4-6 - OK she got screwed here. At 0-30, a first serve that was clearly in was called out. The chair conceded she saw the mark but wouldn't overrule. That's beyond atrocious. She saved one MP but Alize hit a heck of a shot to win it.
