I must say I am really impressive with the way she plays so far. To be honest, I didn't expect she plays that well. But she still has some trouble with consistency. She still makes some stupid UEs but she did hit many winners, which is good to see. Hopefully the rain delay doesn't affect her and she can keep up her level. I am pretty sure Ai will change her tactics and fight really hard, so Daniela must stay strong mentally and physically.

There is a night session that starts at 5pm Beijing time that includes three matches so play must go on untill around 10/11pm, so im sure Daniela will finish. It's 19:30 in Beijing at the moment so theres time.
I'm really pleased Daniela has made such a good start. The olympics clearly means alot to her and im glad she is taking such a professional approach. If she were to win this match comfortably in straight sets then I think she will have got revenge on her two losses to Sugiyama this year.
Her draw looks much easier now that she is producing some of her better tennis. If she plays her best then Wozniacki should be a good match-up for Daniela, and a 3rd round finish would probably be more than alot of us were expecting anyway. But first of all she needs to finish off Sugiyama...

I'm reading the "as it happens" on itf's homepage

1.42pm: Nicole Vaidisova and Radek Stepanek have been spotted in the canteen and it was certainly just lunch for two if you know what I mean!

lol

It's official. All the play is cancelled indeed.

The problem is that the eventual future Daniela's opponent (Caroline Wozniacki) has already finished her match.

Fan de Daniela en toutes circonstances.

Brutal luck with the rain. Because Wozniacki won, there will be some pressure now not only to win but to win quickly for Daniela. Remember at last year's French, a similar situation arose. She had to complete her second round match over two days. She won, but Medina had the extra days' rest and that may have been the difference as Daniela lost either 6-4 or 7-5 in the third.

On the positive side, it appears as if she played great. :)

On another note, is anyone else feeling some schadenfreude after seeing that Ivanovic had to withdraw with an injury? Normally, I do not ever root against one player, save maybe Serena, but I still can't shake what she pulled at Melbourne against Daniela (and Venus) and then lying about it. Part of me doesn't want to see anyone hurt, but another part says good riddance witch.

I don't like Ana either, but I would much rather see her lose (badly) than withdrawing. I hate injuries, and it doesn't matter if is it Danka's or Ana's.

I've read in GM on tennisforum that she was in doubt because of her thumb, and that they could'nt figure out what the problem was. The MRI scanning didn't show anything but she still had a lot of pain and couldn't hold her racket.
