All of this resembles Daniela's 2002 and 2003 seasons. 2002 was great, in 2003 she played very well in Australia but after that it all went downhill. 2007 and 2008 are similar to that, even though the reason for dropping in the ranks is different. Well, I still believe Daniela will find her form till the US Open. This is only her 3rd tournament after coming back.

patience

2/10 on 2nd serve. Someone ought to tell her she needs to vary its placement. It's the same story everytime she plays a taller opponent who can take the ball on the rise.

just saw the result , sad and shocking :(

knowing that she still have to defend her biggest points this season (3 finals, 1 semi and her masters points) her ranking will drop hard at the end of the season.
But that doesn't really matter atm

she need some victory's in a row. i saw someone posting skip Montreal but im not sure that will help, she needs match rhythm after months of injury's and she needs confidence. And it's the last tournament she can play before the Olympics.
Like Martin said let's hope it's all ok before the US Open.

Im not interested in any talk of her possible 'downfall'. Yes she isnt exactly a spring chicken compared to the majority on the tour now but she is still a very good player. Lest we forget the beggining of the year reaching the semi finals in aus, she is still a good player. However in this instance she has never been in this situation before having come off a long term injury and having to find her game again. It will come in time and we all must be patient, despite it being a very frustrating time. In time she will find her game and in time she will show the form she showed at the end of last year and the start of this. For me this season is over, and the coming months are practice for 2009

indeed it's to early to talk about that, many players like Davenport or Mauresmo got better at the end of their career. Daniela just had her best season ever, the only reason why she have bad results is the long injury, long recovery and missing match rhythm and confidence, give her some time.

Really dissapointed by this result. Like against Sugiyama, the scoreline is poor considering Daniela's talents. This is her third loss in a row. I fear now that she could get into a serious rut in singles. I hope she is able to enter Montreal, and try to get a win, otherwise I don't think we can expect anything in Beijing and New York.
I think the main problem when you lose several matches in a row is that even the opponants you used to be able to beat comfortably become tough, and getting a win under your belt becomes very difficult.
Hopefully Daniela will find some rhythm some time soon and improve parts of her game, such as her serve, over the coming weeks.

From BBC website:

"...sixth seed Daniela Hantuchova was beaten 6-2 6-4 by Olga Govortsova of Belarus in the day's other second round match.

Hantuchova is recovering from a long-term foot problem.

"I guess it's going to be a long way back," said the Slovakian.

"I'm struggling to find my rhythm and it was a bad performance.""

As long as Daniela knows that she has to be patient then hopefully confidence, or lack of, will not be a prolonged issue

Like you all said, we have to be patient. Daniela will bounce back but it will just take a little time.

Disappointing result. The current situation is worse than I expected.

I just hope Daniela isn't too hard on herself.

It's just so disappointing, not only for us, especially for her as the Olympics were her big dream and now she is has no form and no confidence.

^exactly. I feel so sorry for Daniela. Her biggest dream is to do well at the Olympics. But 2004 she was still recovering from all the mental issues in 2003, and now an injury is bothering her.
