Daniela needs this win so much more than Begu...please win Daniela...

1-3 Daniela broken. If she doesn't break back right away then it'll be another first round loss :(

Daniela randomly breaks back but she's simply got to hold...

Oh my goodness, I am so happy for Daniela and all of us! This will take a little while longer to type than usual, as I'm plucking out the bamboo shoots. It's a Danielathon in the darkness, eh? 6 set points in the tiebreak missed before she wins it? Ends up having to fend off a match point late in the tiebreak? Not only down 1-3 in the third, but saving 3 break points at 3-4? This young lady has reminded us again of the immeasurable size of her heart. A most tortious 104 days is over! Win #538 is finally in the books. And right back to work tomorrow, 2nd match on Court 3 against the always tough Erakovic. Get some rest, Dani!

Let's Go, Daniela!

I think Daniela gave absolutely everything in that match. I wish I'd been there. She knew she is a better player than Begu on grass and she just didn't give up.

30 points here are so important to keep her ranking up just a little bit. We can't rely on Daniela suddenly clicking for Wimbledon. She needs to treat Birmingham as her Wimbledon as a deep run here will help her ranking and of course confidence so much.

I notice she didn't hit any aces...am sure her serve is even worse these days but we have to accept it and there are other ways to win than a world class serve. E.g look at errani.

Tomorrow against Erakovic will be tougher. She is on the same court so unfortunately it will be live scores again. But if Daniela gets through that we'll hopefully see her play on centre on Thursday.

:wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: This is a tremendous win by Daniela, she just fought and fought and never gave up. What a woman.

Daniela's had to save MPs in her last two wins.

Tomorrow will be tough as Erakovic had a fairly easy win so she'll be confident and she had MPs against in Pattaya. Daniela will be tired and won't have too much time to recover but it's nice to have this problem and it's a lot better than the alternative.

Daniela's serve was actual pretty good she won 67% on her first serve (50/74) & 52% on her second serve, which is pretty decent. It seems like she had strong first serve today that consistently put her in control of points.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Begu was part of the doubles team I saw Daniela and Aga beat in Miami 3 years ago. Sorry, Irina, but there was a little too much karma for you to overcome. ;)

Let's Go, Daniela!

I enjoy tying songs and lyrics into Daniela's matches in my own maniacal method. However, today was a different experience. Long after her win, I heard Katy Perry...I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me ROAR!. Guys, I had all I could do to hold back the tears. I'm so fortunate to have this champion to cheer for.

Let's Go, Daniela!

De Brito just beat Ivanovic. So if Daniela can get past Erakovic, Daniela has a better chance to make it further.

Please Daniela get past Erakovic

Amazing fight!!!!!!!

Saved many set points in the first set.

Kept momentum in 2nd.

Next up de Brito. Will be very tough but winnable.

Nice 55 points there to help with the rankings.

Oh, Yeah! Two in a row! Gotta love it !

So much for rain delays and lesser courts (geez, I could build a better court in my back yard than Court 3). Daniela just might have her mojo back, overcoming those things and back to the wall deficits. For one day, at least, her serve returned from Atlantis. 4 aces and terrific first serve statistics. As eddy said, the draw is opening up. Remember when Dani won here 2 years ago, both her and Vekic were unseeded, and the seeds had all packed up and gone. Who knows?

Let's Go, Daniela!

Good win, Dani!
Been following the live scores.
Left it when she was down 3-5 only to see she suddenly won the first set 7-6(6) and led 3-1 in the second so I started following again.

All the best in the next round! :D
