The field is very strong and Daniela's out-of-form so it's hard to be positive about how she'll do her. She'll almost certainly play someone better than Linette but she got some match practice on grass on grass last week which can help Daniela and we'll just see how she does. A win would be wonderful and a big boost to her confidence before Wimbledon.

I have posted many a positive, fun stat about Daniela here. But there are cold facts to put up today. Daniela is on an 8 match losing streak. If she plays Monday, it will be 103 days since her last singles win that counted (apparently Fed Cup wins only count toward her career total if Slovakia is in the highest group); 104 if Tuesday. You may recall that her last win came in the wee hours of March 4 in Monterey, an astounding late comeback over Monica Puig, which followed her amazing victories in Thailand and Dubai after flying all night and getting one hour of sleep. The last 7 losses, of course, have been in the first round. (And most notably, all 7 came after her Twitter and FB posts of her photo with the f'ing Biebs! :| ) With all this in mind, I wonder if the draw even matters.

Let's Go, Daniela!

Daniela plays Irina-Camelia Begu, the 14th seed, in the first round. If she wins that she's play Cetkowska or a qualifier and the third round would be against Ivanovic or a qualifier although that could be looking a bit too far ahead.

Pretty much anyone Daniela played would be tough, certainly tougher than Linette, but I suppose that Begu's decent enough out of all the seeds. Beau's been playing well this year but her grass results in her career have been poor so that's what gives Daniela a chance. Daniela has nothing to lose and maybe being the underdog will liberate her. The first set will be crucial as Daniela has lost the first set every time in her current losing streak while every time this year she's won the first set she's won the match.

Bouchard's been terrible since then as well.

Bouchard got totally Pwned by Dulgheru at the Fed Cup as well which would have been a blow to her ego, albeit totally deserved. Dish served ice cold etc.

So it'll be 104 days. May I have something much different to count after Tuesday.

Tomorrow's hopefully not one-and-doner is the 4th match on Court 2, not to begin before 5:00 British time. Let the lamentations begin.

Let's Go, Daniela!

I'd have preferred the match to be on a bigger court as I think Daniela would be more inspired by playing on a bigger court than on a small outside court. A late start isn't ideal but at least she knows what the earliest start time is so she can plan her day rather than hang around waiting not knowing when she's on. The court and time have been decided and it's the same for both players and Daniela has to go out and play as well as she can. Begu's the favourite mainly because Daniela's slumping right now while she's had a fairly decent year but Begu's grass record is poor while it's a good surface for Daniela. Daniela has to go out and fight for every point and stay positive.

Daniela's match was switched to Court 3 and has started. She's down 3-2 early on.

Seriously if Daniela loses this 2nd set tiebreak I will scream.

Daniela saves match point takes the tiebreak 12-10.

3rd set-will they play on?? It's almost 7.30pm..
