Potential cure...Daniela and Sam play tomorrow on Court 3. Three matches precede them (2 WTA singles and a doubles), with play beginning soon after 11AM. The pairing is intriguing. Since we find that Dani has changed coaches again, I suppose Vegas and London can create wagering on what will change first, coach or doubles partner!

Hey, eddy. What did Navratilova say is Daniela's biggest problem right now? Did she leave you with any hope that there could still be good days ahead?

I'm going for 3rd round and quarters so hope I'll be able to see her live.

My wife went to Rome before I met her. She says the pizza is terrible there. Consider yourself warned!

Hey Alex there's much better in Rome than pizza. Of course there's great pizzas too but the original ones, not the American versions. Bye

Daniela & Sam won 6-0 6-4 in doubles. The first set was total domination and while the second was closer Daniela and Sam won it easily enough.

Next up is Mattek-Sands & Safarova who won their match 6-4 6-3 and that will be a good test of the level that Daniela and Sam can get to as a team.

Stomach feels better. Daniela and Sam had a very good beginning. 6-0 6-4. Of course, there had to be the obligatory unsettling moment. They ran out to 5-2 in the second, then Dani served for the match at 5-3, fell behind 30-40, evened it for a match point, and double faulted. But they restored order in the final game, missing on one more MP before closing it out. This is an intriguing pair. Let's see how long it lasts.

A good win in doubles. Hope they play Roland Garros together.

Hope I'll get to see her play at least tomorrow (Thursday) :)

Have a good time, eddy, enjoy the tennis and bring Daniela luck.

Nothing to do with tennis but if you're going to the Colosseum get tickets at the Forum as there's no queue there while you wait for about an hour at the Colosseum. Bruce Lee kicked Chuck Norris's arse there.

McHale beat Errani 6-4 6-4 today so I'm not sure what that says about Daniela's recent results.

Now there's a match that I wish both could have lost.

What's McHale done to draw your ire, Alex?

Daniela & Sam lost 6-3 7-6 to Mattek-Sands & Safarova. They were 2-1 up in the first set but lost four games in a row to go down 5-2. The second set was closer with three breaks each, Daniela & Sam were 5-4 up on serve, were 6-5 down but broke back to go to the tiebreak but Mattek-Sands and Safarova dominated that winning it 7-1.

I don't know if this is a one-and-done deal with Stosur but this could be a good partnership and it would be nice to see what could happen, especially if Karin Knapp's playing with Vinci. It would be great if Daniela could play with someone for more than a handful of tournaments and let a partnership develop. I don't know if she'll play doubles in Strasbourg and if she does, it's likely to be a random pairing but it's likely she'll play Roland Garros with either Knapp or Stosur because Daniela normally plays with someone she's partnered before in the slams.

It's a shame that you didn't get to see Daniela win, eddy, but you like Lucie Safarova. Hopefully you enjoy the rest of the day and see a lot of good tennis and all the players you want to see.

Serena withdrew so Mchale's into the quarter-final so it shows what could have happened if Daniela had beaten Errani.

What's McHale done to draw your ire, Alex?

When she beat Daniela in Charleston a few years ago, her comments after the match really rubbed me the wrong way. I'd have to look them up now since I don't recall them. But since America has not developed any decent women players (with the possible exception of Stevens and Keys) since Venus. Serena and Lindsay, it really bothered me that Daniela lost to an American mediocrity and the immediate reaction was that McHale was the next big thing for USA tennis. And over the years as she's proven she's nowhere near that, the Charleston loss eats at me more and more, and the result this year did nothing to change my feelings. Call me crazy (oh, what the frig, you already do!) :)

How badly I wanted Daniela and Sam to get to the 10 point tiebreaker today. But I'm beyond hoping that any of her doubles partnerships lasts.

Daniela has withdrawn from Strasbourg so she'll be going into Roland Garros with precisely ZERO outdoor clay wins.

Hope she just wants to practice and she's not injured.
