Singles draw: MDS.jpg Daniela starts against a local player called Zhang Ling who she should beat easily enough. After that she'd play the winner of Piter & Van Uytvanck. The first seed she'd be due to face would be her compatriot Anna Schmeidlova in the quarter-final while the seeded semi-final opponents are Karolina Pliskova & Zheng Jie. You've got to respect any opponent but Daniela has a good chance of going on a run here and as long as she's ready and fit she should do well. Hong Kong ace Zhang Ling, meanwhile, was also handed a tough first assignment against Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova. Once ranked as high as fifth in the world, Hantuchova is the second seed here. "I'm excited to be playing against such a well-known player but at the same time unlucky to have drawn her. "But I'm looking forward to the experience," said wild-card entrant Zhang. |

6-1, 6-4! Yes! Daniela, as so oft she does, made it a little harder than it needed to be. She fended off a break point at 1-1 in the first and cruised. Then she fell down 0-3 and faced 3 break points for 0-4. Thankfully, Dani restored order, got the key break at 4-4 and won on the second match point. I'll gladly take it. Wish it would have been quicker, like right around an hour, but being first up and not going to three sets, she should be at not too much a disadvantage tomorrow. |

Well done Daniela Any highlights video? She plays Alison Van Utyvank next which will certainly be a sterner test. Also conditions will be different due to it being a night match. The winner of the plays Gajdosova so certainly will be tough to make the latter stages here. |

I watched the game with Dani leading 2-1 in the first set and she was on fie with some good winners with her forehand and  dropshots --- The 2nd set, I'm expecting that the opponent will race her level and so she does and Dani was broken first time. after the 3rd game (she was down 0-3) Dani went to a restroom break for almost 7 mins and after that she face another breakpoint but held it to level it to 4-4 then she finished it --- it should have been more easier but you know Dani, shen needs to make her fans :fiery: and before she finish the game --- glad it was just 2 sets --- sjhe made some aces but lots of DF, but when her first serve is on it she always controls the game --- Hopefully she race her level in the next round since it will be a tougher opponent --- hoping for another good run in Asian tournaments |

Much obliged, monmon. 2 aces and 6 DF's, to be precise. I wondered why nothing was coming up on LiveScoreHunter for what seemed forever at 0-3 in the 2nd. Daniela using a bathroom break against an excited hometown kid? What's good for the goose....right guys? We go apes--t when someone does that to her. Wily veteran move, Dani! |

I was actually thinking if the bathroom break will benefit her or the Hongkonger but it seems it was Dani's intention to stop the momentum of the opponent and also let's not forget the moonballs which really helps Dani to make some winners and forced error from her opponent |

Oh Daniela!!! Had 40-0 to level it to 5-5 in the 3rd (was 2-5 down) but lost 5 points in a row to lose the match.... This year has just been awful... |
