Looks like Daniela will most likely be ranked no.56 after the US Open. I guess could have been worse...Daniela needs some good results asap, she hasn't won two consecutive matches since the French Open. I pray that Asia will give her that.

If someone had told me before the tournament that Daniela would do as well as Radwanska & Ivanovic I'd have been quite pleased, not so much now.

Still, Daniela's won the most matches at slams since 2011 and this is the first time since 2010 that she's won a match at a least 3 of the slams. Three of the players that beat her in slams are very likely to be at the Tour Finals while Cornet has had some very good wins this years, like against Serena Williams at Wimbledon.

Daniela should still get automatic entry into Tokyo & Beijing and Hong Kong and Tianjin give her a decent chance of going on a run.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

With a lot of the big names going out in the 2nd and 3rd round, (Halep and bitch Kerber the latest to fall), Daniela must feel comforted that the whole wta tour is SO OPEN. It just hasn't gone Daniela's way this year and there's still time, Venus had a massive resurgence last year in the Asian swing so hopefully Daniela can make it happen.

Yeah, #56 is much higher than I feared it was going to end up. (It's also my birth year, but maybe my constant search for omens should be given a long rest.) Trying to never give up hope!

Let's Go, Daniela!

Incredible number of upsets this year: Kvitova just lost in straight sets to Krunic.

See that Errani was ticked at fans who were rooting for Venus and yelled as she started to serve. Welcome to New York, dearie! The story also alluded to how soft her serves were; she described them as cottage cheese. So what's the point of the PED's if they don't make your serve stronger? :?: :?:

Let's Go, Daniela!

The fans in Rome are so sporting and fair. PEDs may not increase serve speed, but they can increase speed, stamina, strength, recovery time and allow someone to hit physically demanding shots and play and physically demanding style for much longer and with more consistency.

 about the fans in Rome!
As a baseball fan I am forced to know too much about PED's, so all of what they enhance is known to me. Yet most baseball fans feel that the foremost reason guys do them is to increase their power, either to hit more home runs or to add MPH to the fastball. So I'm left wondering: if we are correct about Errani and she can't serve faster than 88 MPH, what was her top speed serving before she used them? -2? ;) And it kills me that I have to want her to win tomorrow to keep Lucic-Baroni from passing Daniela in the rankings. Aaugh!

Let's Go, Daniela!

Guys, I miss World Team Tennis! Daniela every day...that was neat.
Miss Cottage Cheese (turns out that was Brad Gilbert's comment, which Errani heard and claims motivated her to beat Venus) did help Daniela by beating Lucic. But, nice work as top seed in doubles, you twit!
Driving around yesterday, 2 songs came on that each have a lyric that describes Daniela and her fandom in 14 words combined. The immortal Frank Stallone (Sylvester's brother) had an 80's hit with this as part of the chorus: "I am down but I am far from over." Add to that the 60's classic by the Blues Magoos: "We Ain't Got Nothin' Yet!" Dani's 2014 season to date in a nutshell. I wish to let you all know that 2 weeks from now, Daniela will not be down and she will have somethin' yet. (See, if I make such a rash statement now, it's 2 weeks away so it really can't end up a jinx for Daniela, and if it doesn't happen, no one will remember I said it! Ain't I clever?......Don't answer that!)

Let's Go, Daniela!

Makarova & Vesnina just beat the Williamses so they're into the semi-final.
Plus, Makarova & Wozniacki are both in the quarter-finals here and they beat Daniela in Cincinnati and Montreal before this.

Makarova has quietly turned into one hell of a player.
