We'll see what Daniela can do here. She's the defending champion and she'll come in having had a few wins at Roland Garros. The entry list is pretty strong with five top 20 players and a lot of good players but unlike last year Daniela should have a decent seeding so that can help but there are still a lot of tricky opponents and she's got to respect any opponent. I really want her to defend the title but she also got points to defend to get a Wimbledon seeding so it's crucial that she does well here but with it being upgraded to a Premier then there will be more points available. It would be great for her to defend her title. |

I forgot this is now a premier; thanks Chungwit. Been cringing for months about the chance of a loss of a lot of points here, now I feel better. If some of what we saw from Daniela in the clay season translates to the grass like it probably should and she can find more consistency on serve, this could be a terrific grass season. Fingers crossed as usual! |

The good news is that due to some late withdrawals Daniela should now be a top 8 seed so will get a bye in the first round. The bad news is the weather is looking sucky so chances are the courts will be in bad condition like a few years ago and then schedule may be a bit crazy. |

Really crappy draw, every round is a banana skin. 1R Bye 2R Bencic (help!!) or Vekic (help!!) 3R Puig (help!!) QF Stosur (help!!) SF Safarova or Flipkens (would be delighted if Daniela got there) F Ivanovic Would prefer Vekic rather than Bencic to be honest as I think Bencic would cause Daniela even more problems. |

That's a tough draw. Daniela could be playing last years finalist in her first match and Vekic won Kuala Lumpur a couple of months ago so she'll be feeling confident. Bencic is a good young player as well and she had a very good run in Charleston. Whoever wins that match will be battle hardened and used to the courts so that will be a tough match, a lot of the time it's not been that much of an advantage for Daniela to have had a bye and her first match will be tough. I'd anticipate Puig being the third round opponent as the other players in her section are Ormaechea, Date-Krumm and Voegele and I'd have liked Daniela to have started against one of them. Stosur's the likely quarter-final opponent. The draw's been made and Daniela just has to focus on the next match and take things one match at a time. Daniela's the defending champion and she's been preparing for the past week so she can come into this recuperated, prepared and ready to defend her title. |

Daniela's playing doubles with Lucic-Baroni again and they start against Chan & Chan of Taiwan. The winner play Spears & Kops-Jones or Rosolska & Savchuk. Bencic and Vekic are first on centre court tomorrow so we'll find out who Daniela plays pretty soon. I'd like Daniela to get on court to play her doubles match to give her some match practice on grass because her opponent will have played a game already. |

Not a fan of this draw, either. Just wondering though, guys. After all the ups and downs we have had over the years, wouldn't we be fearful if Daniela drew as her first opponent Edward Scissorhands? There are no doubles scheduled for tomorrow. |

Bencic just beat Vekic 64 64 She is going to be extremely tough to beat as is solid on both wings, moves well, big serve. Daniela must play well from the first point to the last. |

To be honest I was hoping Daniela would play Bencic as Vekic is more experienced on grass although Bencic played very well in Charleston and either of them would be a tough opening opponent. We'll see how tough Bencic is. We'll see how Daniela does as she really could do with a run here to defend her title, her points and get a Wimbledon seeding. |
