Apparently Daniela is playing doubles with Shahar Peer #random |

Daniela played with Peer in Zurich in 2007 and Stuttgart in 2006. They lost both matches together so this can be third time lucky and it would be nice if Daniela could go on a run in doubles. Peer got to the quarter-final of the Australian Open with Soler-Espinosa but that's about the only thing she's done in doubles recently. We'll see what they do together. It's a lot more important that Daniela does well in singles and a decent draw would be nice. |

Daniela's got a pretty good draw.. 1st Round Jaksic (very annoying player from Serbia who reached Monterray final.) 2nd Round Govortsova or Feurstein 3rd Round Kerber I think the first round will be tough and Jaksic will do every trick in the book to put off Daniela but hopefully she can get through that one at least. |

In recent months, Daniela hasn't fared well at all against players like Jaksic that you're terming annoying, eddy. I'm thinking of Lepchenko and Torro-Flor in particular. And things didn't go much good in her last matches with the screamers Azarenka and Sharapova. Daniela can be so amazingly mentally strong, and yet these types of people give her big trouble. So that worries me. This is such a chance for Dani to grab big points for her ranking with Birmingham and New York looming, and a first-round flameout would be extremely hard to take. Meantime, Daniela keeps getting breaks in the results. Vesnina would have passed her with a win today, and Keys would have if she had won in her tourney, but they both lost, Keys falling to the blazing hot Puig. So our gal moves up one spot to #31. Now if she can catch these kinds of breaks on court in Paris..... |

It's a decent enough draw. Daniela should have too much experience for Jaksic, although she won't know too much about Jaksic so it could be tricky. Jaksic got to the Monterey final but the best player she beat was Knapp and most of the rest of the time she's been on the ITF circuit. This is Jaksic's first Grand Slam match. Daniela has to respect Jaksic and be prepared for a tough match. The second round match is definitely winnable and Kerber's the likely third round opponent and Daniela was unlucky against her in the Fed Cup. We'll see what Daniela can do but she has to take things one match at a time and focus on her first match. |

Urgh hating the Sunday start but if she wins then least she can train for a couple of days.. Jaksic's grunt should be banned. 2-6 so many games Daniela had 40-15 and had earky break points but that really was an awful set from Daniela. I can't see her winning this match...Jaksic solid and seems to have already got into Daniela's head... WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE BELIEVED IN HERSELF AND PLAYED SO AMAZING TOWARDS THE END! Best win of the year BY A MILE!!!!! Daniela's face at the end was hilarious, it was llike "that was too close for comfort, but that's why I love to play tennis!" |

It is a big relief that Daniela got through this but she showed all of her fighting spirit and desire to fight back against a tough opponent. There were times when it looked nasty but Daniela kept going and she won the last three games to win the match. It's been three long years since her last win at Roland Garros but she got one today and it feels good. It must be fantastic for Daniela and getting wins like this whens he has to battle and show all her skill and desire are why she plays tennis and why we're all fans. |

So so so happy to read she won and showed great play to achieve it! Do you think we'll get any highlights? I hope she can work this magic while the draw allows. Keep going, Daniela! At TF people were saying Hogstedt was watching Daniela play and giving her instructions. Is this true? |
