Daniela must have called in a lot of favors. Everyone who needed to lose today did except Zhang, who beat McHale (who also had to lose, so one of them was going to stay alive). Zhang needs to win her quarterfinal to push Dani to the dreaded #33. Her opponent is Serena. So, barring a ridiculous upset or a withdrawal by Serena (which of course is hardly a rarity), our gal will be in for the French Open seed. Keep hope alive!

Let's Go, Daniela!

Just watch Zhang play the match her life or Serena pull out 5 mins before

Bloody hope not...

Anyone else surprised that Daniela doesn't seem to be playing Strasbourg or Nurenburg??

I thought Daniela might ask for a wildcard for Strasbourg or Nuremberg but she hasn't, or at least she hasn't yet, eddy. She'd be seeded for both of them and the fields aren't that strong so Daniela should be able to get some wins.
The past few years she's played Strasbourg when she's been fit and she entered Brussels in 2012 but before that Daniela generally took the week before Roland Garros off. It depends how she's feeling and whether she wants to recuperate and practice before Roland Garros or if she wants to play some matches.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

My feeling is entering Strasbourg or Nurenburg is a win win situation. If she bombs out early she's got plenty if time to get to Paris and prepare for RG, if she does well then good match practice and plenty of points to try and nab seeding for Wimbledon.

Believe! Swallow hard with me, and say thank you, Serena. Daniela remains #32, and hey, it's not a big deal that she needed help from others to cinch her seed in Paris. About time she caught some breaks. (In fairness, more than half her points came from Birmingham and New York, so even with all the help she got the last 2 weeks, it's proper to say that Daniela earned the seed.) Now Dani needs to take advantage and get some wins. And I have a feeling she will!

Let's Go, Daniela!

Phew thank you Serena. However it does mean that Daniela is susceptible to getting Serena in the 3rd round of the french, however better that than in round 1.

Hopefully Daniela will have a good draw in RG which she can capitalise on.

Daniela not playing in Nurenburg or Strasbourg. I guess wants practice on Roland Garros courts with Peter. I just hope Daniela comes out on court for her first round match giving it absolutely everything.

Not anymore. Azarenka withdrew today.

Still means Daniela will have to face a top 8 seed in round 3 Alex. But at least she's got the seeding. I think we'd take a 3rd round right now!

An early success for the Paris Noise Abatement Society.

It's good that Daniela's got a seeding as it means she avoids the top players in the first couple of rounds but she's lost to a lot of average players this year so she really has to take things one match at a time. Hopefully Daniela goes into Roland Garros rested and refreshed and she's able to play good tennis.

Puig just beat Petkovic in Strasbourg 64 64 so she is clearly playing well..

EDIT Puig wins Strasbourg title. Nuff said. .
