A great win in doubles. I think Lucic and Daniela is a really good combo. Potentially Hingis and Lisicki next!

Just went on Google and read up on Lucic and her messed up life due to her miserable excuse for a father. She has a doubles pedigree that I was not aware of. Perhaps Daniela's kindly nature is something she needs, and her willingness to play ITF for years, even to come back and play at all, says all we need to know about her mental toughness. You may well be right, eddy. While it was nice to see that photo with Daniela with an arm around Hingis (no problem with them remaining friends)……geez, would I love to see Dani get the chance to whip her butt!

Let's Go, Daniela!

If Daniela can get past Puig, I think she would just about get her 32nd seeding for Roland Garros as would be an extra 60 points for Daniela. Obviously barring someone lower than her going on a big run. This match is huge.

Daniela serving 40-0 up and got broken 0-1 :(
Puig holds to love 0-2 AWFUL START
0-3 dear or dear
0-4 in 15 minutes Daniela hasn't won a point off Puig's serve
0-5 something's going on...maybe Daniela is injured?
0-6 in 25 minutes, and there I was thinking Daniela could waltz through this match :(

Daniela serving
1-0 WINS A GAME!
2-0 BREAKS on 3rd bp comon
3-0 WELL DONE
3-1
3-2 Puig breaks back even though Daniela was 40-15 up
Daniela such a bad front runner, I despair really..
3-3
4-4
5-4
Please Daniela snatch this set!
6-4 YESSSS

3rd set

0-1
0-2
0-3
Daniela has completely lost momentum
0-4 Daniela a break point, no coming back from here
0-5 Daniela ws 40-15 up
0-6
A new career low. :? :? :? :o :o

SO MANY GAMES DANIELA WAS UP 40-0 OR 40-15 AND GOT BROKEN. USELESS!

4-0 for Puig in just 15 minutes. I hope she can turn it around now. She is only winning 36% of her 1st serves :/

6-0 in 23 minutes. Daniela won 1 point in Puigs' serve, which was a DF. Surely, something is going on with her, I can imagine that she is injured or something, otherwise, I've never seen Dani in such a poor state. She won 8 points in the whole set.

And yet Daniela was 40-0 up in the first game!

I don't know, if Lungdren can't help Daniela then maybe it is time to call it a career for singles at least...

It drives me nuts seeing Sharapova winning so many clay court tournaments when we all know Daniela is capable of doing the same...

Daniela doesn't deserve a seeding for Roland Garros, simple as that. I'm sorry but to lose 0-6 6-4 0-6 Daniela is not fighting hard enough on the court.

So she is almost getting sort of double bageled. New low for this year? I can't think these results will do much for her confidence.
I feel sad, she seems to be fading away this year with no signs of coming back

Was really hoping for 2nd round vs Sharapova, Daniela is so disappointing this year...

I do not see her playing singles for that long if this continues for the rest of the year, or maybe I do not want to see it? Not sure.

Maybe she'll gain sudden form and win a random title like the past couple of years? Seems unlikely at this stage.

It's a bit heartbreaking seeing her like this, though.

Awful day. Just not like Daniela to give up in the final set like that, especially in Rome.

This is depressing and shocking. This must be awful for Daniela, I feel for her.

I suppose that getting broken in the first game from 40-0 up set the tone for the match as it gave Puig confidence and put doubt in Daniela's mind. Plus Puig is a ball basher and if she's on, which she hadn't been this year, then she can hit a lot of winners and it seems like she was on today. The big difference in the match was first serve and break points. Puig won 80% of her first serve points while Daniela only won 50% and Puig saved 6/8 BPs while Daniela was only 2/9 saving BPs. Daniela won 71% of her first serves in the second set and she won that but in the other two she won 35% & 30% and got bagelled in both. Puig's been terrible this year but she's great against Daniela and it does seem like so many players play amazingly against Daniela. At the same time Daniela should be good enough to beat these players and a lot of the time this year she hasn't been.

If Daniela had won this match she'd probably get a seeding for Roland Garros but Vesnina & Venus Williams both won so they'll probably go above her in the rankings and the only injured player above her is Azarenka and she'll probably be fit for Roland Garros.

Still, Daniela's still in doubles so a run there would be great.

Qualifiers have done well today. Cetkovska just beat Kerber, McHale beat Cirstea and Bencic beat Pavlyuchenkova. Still doesn't help Daniela.

I suppose Daniela'll take a wild card for Strasbourg or Nuremburg as she could do with getting some wins and points.

Black/Murza just beat Hingis/Lisicki 10-8 in the super tiebreak. Now we don't even have that to look forward to.

Let's Go, Daniela!
