1R BYE 2R Kontaveit or Keys 3R Li (2) or Kleybanova 4R Suarez Navarro (15) or Kanepi (24) QF Jankovic (7) or Wozniacki (11) or Stephens (17) A pretty good draw to be honest, just get to the 3rd round and i'll be happy, seems ages since Daniela got a win... |

Keys is the likely second round opponent and I think she'll be tough. She's ranked 38 which isn't much lower than Daniela. Keys thrashed Halep in Sydney and she also beat Cibulkova in Beijing last year. I just hope that Daniela's fit and go do herself justice. Kontaveit's a young player who did well as a junior and has won a lot on the ITF circuit so she's got to be respected but Keys has to be the big favourite to face Daniela. If Daniela gets past the second round then she'd probably face Li Na. |

What Flavia did today has to give us Daniela Maniacs a little hope. Dani at least got 3 matches in at IW, and her FB message on how her knee held up after her practices at La Quinta creates a little more hope. But eddy's right, it seems like eons since the last singles match won, so feeling true hope will come only after her next win. It would be quite encouraging if Daniela can take down Keys, as she is exactly the kind of up-and-comer that has been beating Dani with regularity in recent months. Crossing fingers! |

Daniela's playing doubles with Parra Santonja again and they start with Jurak & Lucic-Baroni which they should win. The next round is against either Peschke & Srebotnik or Kuznetsova & Stosur which will be tough. A run in doubles would be nice, but a run in singles would be nicer. |

You'd think after all this time I would know better. However, beginning with Keys (if that's her 1st opponent), I have a strong feeling that Daniela is going to unlock her formula for success and have a big time tournament in Miami. No logic behind it, just a prompting. |

Keys bent, folded, spindled and mutilated Kontaveit after a slow start. Come on, Dani, get back on your feet! You're the one they can't beat and you know it! |

I feel the first set will be crucial. Daniela's won the first set of every match she's won this year and being a set up will be a boost to her confidence. Hopefully she's fit and can do herself justice and hopefully working with Lundgren will inspire Daniela. |

Foremost, what I hope big-time that Lundgren and Daniela have done is work incessantly on her serve so that it at least leaves the category of liability. While the opening of her year has been rather nightmarish, and maybe this is stating the obvious, I take some hope in that Sanchez and Lundgren are two of the premier coaches on the circuit. With many players likely wanting their services, they would not use up valuable time working with Dani unless they see that she can still be a relevant player on the tour. And clearly, by seeking them out, Daniela gives one more sign that she's still all in. But a win, any win, will be much more encouraging than any of that. Her match is several hours away and already I'm nervous! |

Na Li gets through to 3rd round without hitting a ball as Kleybanova withdrew after winning her 2nd round match. So if Daniela beats Keys, Na Li awaits..top players always seem to get all the luck...like serena yesterday against shvedova had about 10 net cords that went her way. Here we go then, Daniela serving 4-6 2-6 I honestly think that maybe Daniela is done...she simply can't compete against the more powerful game now... It can't be fun going from tournament to tournament losing every time in the first round...and she seems to have 3-4 games in a row these days in a match where she can barely win a point... If Peter Lungdren can't help her then no one can to be honest... Poor Daniela, she's training so hard for no result... I can't imagine clay being any better ![]() |

I honestly think that maybe Daniela is done...she simply can't compete against the more powerful game now... If Peter Lungdren can't help her then no one can to be honest... Poor Daniela, she's training so hard for no result... I don't want to believe that just yet, eddy. But we certainly know that the time comes that the veteran athlete slows enough that she or he struggles to keep up, and that there's far more young up-and-comers than there are familiar foes. We should wait to see if, given a few months, Lundgren can work some magic, and again, Daniela has to still feel she has something left or she wouldn't seek high level coaching. However, it's not just the results that are making it possible that Dani is working on her transition. World Team Tennis, this crazy new league at the end of the year, the constant search for the right doubles partner……Daniela isn't ready to leave the sport and lifestyle she loves, but like a person of her level of intelligence would smartly do, she seems to be giving herself some options to ease out of tennis by playing it as a team sport for a year or two or three once she decides relevancy in singles is beyond her abilities. I don't see that happening at least until after New York. So I am willing to hang in there awhile longer. But it can't be denied that it's sad to watch Daniela right now, particularly on serve. |

Serve seems to have gone to pot since the knee injury-making only 41% of your first serves is simply not going to get the job done. Madison hits hard flat bombs and was making 63% of her first serves-there was the match right there. |

I think her return game is what's crap at the moment. She can't make returns for toffee.... |
