Daniela's got Alja Tomljanovic in the first round. They played in Quebec in 2011 and Tomljanovic gave Daniela a really tough match before Daniela won in three sets. Second round would be against Simona Halep, seeded seven, or Madison Keys.

Another good 1st round draw but another potential banana skin. Will there be a stream? Daniela plays 3rd on Ken Rosewall arena Sunday.

Daniela's playing doubles with Arantxa Parra-Santonja and they play Darija Jurak & Megan Moulton-Levy in the first round.

Keys just beat Halep 61 64 :o so if Daniela gets past Tomjanovic then she'll play Keys in the 2nd round.

Good for Keys, hopefully good for Dani, who of course has business to take care of later today. Typical for us Daniela Maniacs: Keys was up 6-1 5-0; her near el foldo made the match last 20 minutes longer. Hey, we're all used to it!

Was 0-3 up now 3-4 break down..too many errors..Daniela looked very upset in the change over with Sanchez, almost crying :(

3-5, 4-5 Daniela saved 3 straight break points, at least will force Tomjanovic to serve the first set out.

Huge serving from Tomjanovic, 4-6 there seems to be no weaknesses. She plays like a more solid Pavyluchenkova :(

I just don't know what I can say to help Daniela, I think she is just struggling in general, her best efforts just isn't good enough at the moment..she just can't execute when she's on top of the rallies.

1-2 mammoth hold from Daniela

2-3 good hold by Daniela but still hasn't managed to break back and time is running out.

Daniela had set point on T's serve but couldnt take it, now T is serving for the match :( :( :( :( :(

Maybe I take this back if Dani comes all the way back, but I already believe that Daniela/Sanchez is not a match made in Heaven.

Auuggh! Dani fought back, but another frustration. I can only hope this is a rerun of 2011, when Australia was a disaster, it looked like Daniela would never win a match again, then came Thailand.

I just think there are so many power players out compared with 3-5 years ago there that with Daniela's lack of movement it's an impossible task to stay current. The power players are now too solid..

Oy. Ten days on vacation with no Internet and this is the news I come back to.

Two bad losses, but still only two matches. I'm sure Daniela (if healthy) has some good tennis still left in her; hopefully we see it in Melbourne.

This is..........................not good.

Started well, went 3-0 up,threw in a shocking service game and lost the plot completely.

Same thing happened in the second set when she played that awful shot on SP. Her game isn't anywhere near her best yet,so Daniela needs to be mentally rock solid at the moment. And she wasn't today,to put it mildly. :wall:

This isn't great to say the least.

Daniela still had the chance to take it to a third set, just like last week, but she couldn't take it. It would be a lot more concerning if she was getting thrashed but this is still very worrying. If she's creating chances then she'll take them some time, but she isn't taking her chances and when she doesn't take an opportunity she loses all momentum, she was 3-0 up in the first but lost the next 5 games and had a set point at 5-4 in the second but lost it 5-7. Daniela's game and confidence seems so brittle at the moment.

Sanchez either inspires his players to great things like getting Jankovic to number 1 or it flames out quickly like with Wozniacki & Lisicki.

Daniela's still in the doubles so hopefully she can have a run there and get a bit of confidence before the Australian Open. There have been so many times in the past when Daniela's been down but she's picked herself up and gone on to play great tennis. Daniela's always been strong and resilient and she's got a great ability to bounce back from adversity.
