Very solid win from Daniela. The longest rally was about 5 shots lol as it was all about first strike tennis.

Laura served really well but Daniela was much better in all other departments.

Nice that it was a quick match 1hr 15.

Daniela vs Mladenovic next. That's going to be really tough in my opinion.

But congrats on 500 WINS!!!!!!!  Keep it going Daniela!

Is Daniela playing next week at Rosmalen or Eastbourne????

I'm not at home and won't be for a few hours, and my stupid phone limits creativity. But you'll see what I have planned soon. Suffice to say that I'm thrilled beyond belief for Daniela and her historic achievement of 500 career wins!

Let's Go, Daniela!

A superb win by Daniela against a good opponent with home advantage. She played very well, served well and had good groundstrokes. It's a worthy performance for Daniela's 500th win and to get to 500 is a testament to her skill, talent, determination and consistency over the years and what a great player she is. :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: Congratulations Daniela.

Speaking after her match Robson said: "I definitely could’ve moved up to the ball a bit more. It is definitely something I could work on a bit more but I thought Daniela played very well today.
"I just have to keep practising and stay confident and keep focussing."

Hantuchova commented: "I was in control from the start, I always focus on myself and it seemed to work well today."

Thanks for the live scoring, Patti.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

#500! :wav: :wav: :coool: :coool: :coool: :coool:    :jump: :jump: :wav: #500!
(Where are the smilies of the Rockettes kick line when I need them?)

As you might be able to tell, I'm bursting with joy for Daniela and this historic achievement. As Chungwit said so nicely, what makes this even better is that she did it over a solid opponent on her turf, though it was Dani's favorite surface (must be...when was the last time she played 2 matches in 2 days and have her serve broken just once?). So, Never Give Up On The Good Times! In fact, Let The Good Times Roll! During her last few matches, I have ran through my mind a 90's tune by The Proclaimers called I Would Walk 500 Miles. It worked! 500,500,500 fist pumps for this!
As we know, Daniela is the 37th woman to reach 500 singles wins in the Open Era. Perspective time: Of the other 36, 15 are in the International Tennis Hall of Fame. 6 others (Serena, Venus, Lindsay, Henin, Clijsters and Sharapova) no doubt will be. An argument could be made for another 6 or so. Guys, Daniela is in elite company! Chungwit, you are well within your rights to term her a Great player!

Now to business at hand...This is by far Dani's best performance on back-to-back days in a long time. The lack of broken serves and the 14 aces speaks volumes. If this keeps up, this could be one wonderful, rankings climbing week! Let's hope. And multiple congrats, Daniela!

Let's Go, Daniela!

Congratulations on your 500th win dani!!! :D  How many players have 500 or more in their career?..
It will be a tougher match in R3 but if she keeps playing like this and important is her serve then she can still do it...just happy with back2back wins and her 500th win!

We'll soon know how tough a match tomorrow's will be, as it is first up on the centre court (6:00 AM here in New York; fine by me). Her doubles opener as called off and moved to tomorrow, 4th match set on court 3. Tomorrow is my birthday. A Dani Daily Double would be a nice gift!

Let's Go, Daniela!

After suffering an early French Open defeat, Hantuchova began her grass court preparations last week and looked comfortable from the outset, breaking early in both sets en route to a 63 64 win.

"I felt like I was in control of the match from the start and played a really solid game," Hantuchova said. "She's a great player and has a great future, but I can only concentrate on my game, which seemed to be working very well today.

"I spent quite a few hours practicing on the grass before coming here and I think it has helped a lot."

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

There's almost nothing ANYWHERE so far (7:30 PM in New York), eddy. One brief mention in a blog called WTA Today, which is written by a wise guy who took glee in trashing Dani for her recent losses while thanking Robson for letting her get to 500. In trolling the web, I did find a preview on a betting site which picked Robson in 3 sets and called Daniela a "spent veteran". Elsewhere, with no mention of the milestone, Dani was referred to as Croatian. Remember my recent rants about Sharapova and how she'd be lavished with praise for 500 and Daniela would get next to nothing? This doesn't surprise me one bit. (It is also unsurprising that Daniela made 3 posts on her FB page and never mentioned it. Fits her perfectly to not call attention to herself.) Well, at least she may know that we know and congratulate her.
I have a FB friend that told me that prior to today, Robson was upset that Dani came up so soon in her draw. Her peers still respect her. Love it!

Let's Go, Daniela!

There was no mention of it in the Slovakian media either. Pretty much all the reports mentioned the score, the time and that Daniela gets 30 points and $2750 but not much else. The Slovak Tennis Association website doesn't even mention it.

In fairness, I don't remember anything in the media about Jankovic getting to 500 wins a couple of months ago.

I guess it's fine. I'd prefer if she went deep in this tournament.

What's Daniela's next opponent game?
