Daniela's the only wild card who isn't Spanish or Romanian (thanks to Ion Tiriac) so a big factor is her achievements in the game, her popularity plus her charm and personality. She justified the decision by beating Stephens so if she can go on and beat Kvitova that would be fantastic. The Stephens win alone will boost her ranking and more wins will put her back near, or even into, the top 50.

Talking about tiebreaks, Robin Haase lost his 15th consecutive tiebreak against Alex Dolgopolov and that's the longest losing streak in ATP history, although Haase won the match and his ranking's gone up since the streak started.

I'm going to be away for a couple of weeks so I won't be online too much, if at all. I'm going to Rome so I'll try to see Daniela play and enjoy the tennis for a few days.

Oh, for sure I think it is positive, plus, we get more interviews and pictures with our girl. She has already proven she deserved it by getting a top20 win. I'm happy she is being recognised as an asset despite her ranking.

Let's just hope she gets off to a solid start. And it wouldn't hurt if Petra has one of her big lapses.

Do your best Daniela!

Daniela playing Kvitova early evening tomo. The scheduling is ridiculous as the winner of kerber's 3r match is first up on that court which is a 3RD ROUNDER!!!

Its like they've forgotten that Daniela vs Kvitova is a 2nd round match. Should someone contact th tournament. I've never seen this before. A player already into th quarters before 2nd round is complete.there not even been rain to add an excuse!!

In a perfect world; they'll both get to 499, face each other, and Daniela would thrash her! ;)
You know this, eddy. It doesn't have to make sense, as long as it makes Dollars. Most any tourney would put Daniela-Petra at night over Kerber vs. anybody. And, there's the old saying...good things happen to those who wait!

All the best today Daniela :)

The kirilenko match is going on for ages, first set was over an hour long. At this rate Daniela won't be on til 9pm. This is Miami all over again, and she got thrashed by Errani then...FFS when will Daniela get a good schedule? It's obviously too much to ask of the wta.

2-5 down alread. Seems this is going the usual way.

So discouraging how routinely Petra seems to handle Daniela. 6-2.

Same old..this is so depressing...we need Kvitova to go really off the boil. Its not fair that Daniela keeps drawing her. Its a walking bye for Petra.

Daniela's face says it all, she really does not believe she has a chance in this match up. Hope she can find it in her to be more positive and give a fight.

Well, Eduardo's advice paid off. Come on daniela, hold!

Kvitova went out for a walk and Daniela has stepped up. 4-0 up!

The longer Daniela keeps Petra out there the better. To win a set of Petra here would be such an achievement.

wow, she got a set! Hope that Petra does not wake up suddendly, since she is playing really badly. Daniela is doing well in trowing her off, keep going!
