Daniela's doubles match is the second match on court 7.

Daniela did enter Kuala Lumpur and would have played if she hadn't played so much in Doha & Dubai. I feel it would have been a good idea to have entered Memphis as that wasn't a particularly strong field and she could have gone on a good run there. She'd have gotten more points for winning a match there than she did for going through the qualifying in Dubai and beating someone ranked higher than anyone in Memphis.

There are quite a few tournaments after Miami that Daniela would have a decent chance of going on a run. She's entered Charleston and there are a lot of tournaments like Marrakech, Estoril, Strasbourg and Birmingham that will have fairly weak fields where she can go on a good run and pick up points at. Daniela doesn't have anything to defend between Miami and Eastbourne and only Cincinnati, Tokyo and Luxembourg for the rest of the year so as long as she's able to stay fit and maintains a decent level she'll go up the rankings.

I feel that Daniela made a big mistake getting rid of Liptak and compounded that by hiring Pistolesi who was a disaster. She should stay with Sanchez Casal as they've at least repaired the damage Pistolesi did and she's had success with them in the past. It's not as if changing coaches like she has in recent years has done her much good especially when she's gotten rid of good coaches she was playing well under like Passos or Liptak and gotten inferior replacements. Nicolas is a good coach. Also, it took Daniela about a year to start playing really well again when she injured her foot in 2008 and it's coming up to a year since her injury from last year.

Daniela & Medina Garrigues 9/9 first serve points won.

2nd set
0-1, Daniela & Medina Garrigues broken to 30. Only 1 first serve in that game.
0-2, Black/Rodionova hold to 15.
1-2, Daniela & Medina Garrigues hold from 15-30 winning the next 3 points.
2-2, Daniela & Medina Garrigues break to 0.
3-2, Daniela & Medina Garrigues hold to 40. Were 40-0 up.
4-2, Daniela & Medina Garrigues break to 0.
4-3, Daniela & Medina Garrigues broken to 40, were 40-30.
5-3, Daniela & Medina Garrigues break to 30.

A good win in doubles against solid opponents. Daniela and Medina Garrigues are turning into a pretty decent team.

Peng & Hsieh are next up in the doubles. They've had some good wins here beating Pennetta & Kuznetsova then Errani &VInci in straight sets so they're in good form and will be tough opponents.

Chungwit, I thought your post on where Daniela might play in the near future was brilliant. It makes me feel that Daniela can never give up on the good times, as they might be coming very soon.
After today's doubles win, I did a little research and found that back in their day, Huber and Black were #1 in doubles for a combined 294 weeks. So these two wins for Daniela-bel have been darn good ones indeed. I had forgotten that Huber was on the losing end of Dani and Aga's win in Miami. Going back, I found that a Dani doubles team has won over a Huber team not just twice this year, but in 6 out the last 7 matches! In '09, Dani and Ai Sugiyama beat Huber and Black 3 times without losing. No wonder the bitch has such a problem with our gal. If you haven't long since done this, Google Liezel Huber-Cara Black split. Wow! Huber is such a witch that she'd better be careful, before someone drops a house on her! ;)

That AO doubles match against Black/Huber was all kinds of amazing. They saved like 6 MP and won. Pity they couldn't win the whole thing.

Should Sharapova and Kerber win their next matches, my reading is that Daniela will rise 4 spots to #69. The views that this ranking will create in the diseased minds of many mirth-makers worldwide do not necessarily reflect those of the members of the Forum or especially those of the author! :)

I rarely watch doubles, but it was the most exciting doubles match I have seen. That tiebreak was incredible.

Just checked the livescores and they were MP down in the tiebreak but managed to win it. Supertiebreak now?

They got slaughtered in that defining tiebreaker. Pity, I thought they would go further.

Guys, Daniela-bel almost pulled out a Houdini! I'd love to know if there was more than one match point saved. They were down 6-2, 5-2! Sure it's a disappointment that they couldn't pull out the in, but we might really have something here. And again, there's no way on earth I would have said or thought that after their 1st match together in Melbourne. Off to Miami now, and if you're worried about the chances of a bad draw or a loss of up to 79 points, just keep one thing in mind: I won't be there this year! That oughta give all of you and Daniela hope and comfort!

The saved one to get the second set and then saved another one being 6MPs down.

Good fight in QF. At least the loss now gives Daniela plenty of time to prepare for Miami.
