Not at all,Alex!

Admittedly my own personal preferences have a lot to do with it,but how about a Dani/Julia combo? :heart2:

I hoping that Robert Lindstedt will be a great doubles partner for Daniela.

I'll take that as a compliment, Benji! Hmmmm...Gorgeous Georges and KDDDG Daniela....that would be interesting. (I will let you all guess what KDDDG is; answer tomorrow!)

No takers? I'll give it one more day.

FYI...Whenever the USTA gets around to scheduling it, this mixed doubles match has some intruige. Mr. Lindstedt is #5 in ATP doubles ranking, while Mr. Frystenberg is #7. Ms. Klaudia, at #29, has 203 more points then Daniela (#34) (it's too late at night as I write this to come up with something clever about her point total of 2222 :!: ), but has played in 13 more tourneys. Looks like a fairly even matchup; maybe, just maybe, Daniela won't go 1, 2, 3 strikes you're out at the Open.

And now she's heading out of the mixed doubles in the first round too..lost 8-10 on the champions tiebreaker,
Daniela's nought from 3. What an awful US Open for Daniela.

This is depressing as hell. I can't remember another tournament where Daniela went out in the first round of everything, this is terrible for her.

The thing is Daniela and Lindstedt were the better team for most of the match and the other lot were hanging on and if they'd broken in the second game of the second set, then they'd probably have run away with the set and they also had another BP to break back but the Poles held and broke again for the set. Daniela & Lindstedt got into a huge deficit in the Supertiebreak and although they fought back to 8-8, they couldn't sustain it and lost 10-8. I wonder what would have happened if they'd gotten to match point in the Supertiebreak but they didn't and lost on the first match point.

Oh well, Daniela can have a few weeks off to rest and practice and then on to Tokyo. Hopefully a new continent will bring a change of form and a change of coach.

Probably the worst tournament of Daniela's career. There is little doubt that changes need to be made. You simply cannot bankrupt a player's serve and expect to remain in your job. Hopefully Daniela has reached the same conclusion. :wall:

I guess we're supposed to be used to this, but this is agonizing! Daniela's taken a few whippings in doubles since her return, but outside of Wozniacki in the Olympics, every freaken loss has been an almost/could have been/rip your heart out type of thing. It would be easier to accept a double bagel then what's been happening. It's worse than bamboo shoots under the fingernails. It's like being locked in a room with a sound system completely cranked up to an endless loop of songs by Bryan Adams, and having no access to the on/off switch!
I never thought I'd see the day I'd say this, but it's a good thing that she won't be playing for 3 weeks. Daniela needs a break. And brother, so do all of us!!

Pistolesi surely has to be gone after this tournament. Daniela's gotten rid of far better coaches than him when she's been in better form and having better results. He may stay on in Asia, although I hope he doesn't, but he surely has to be gone by the indoor season because that's when she's made coaching changes in the past. If he stays on after this, then it's not his fault anymore, it's Daniela's for keeping him.

I wonder how easy it will be for Daniela to get a top coach as she's had a such a turnover of coaches over the past few years and that might put some coaches off. Still, anyone has to be better than Pistolesi, he's the worst coach she's ever had. That gives cause for optimism because she's playing like this under an absolutely crap coach, so she has to get better with a decent coach. If Daniela was playing like this with a good coach then it would be so much more worrying and depressing.

Worse than Sears? :)

At least Claudio doesn't storm out midway through her matches and badmouth Daniela to the press.

In my current hardline anti-Pistolesi stance, I'd forgotten what a wanker Sears was, Benji. When Ivanovic hired him I actually felt sorry for her for the first time since that Australian Open. That's what I think of Sears.

Sears at least turned up for the tournaments Daniela played in - even though he did walk out during her games, what a wanker - and she had a functioning service motion under him. Right now, if I had the choice between Sears and Pistolesi to coach Daniela, I'd go with Sears, that's what I think of Pistolesi. And I absolutely do not want Sears back. It looked like Sears had a job for life and Daniela's results before she fired him were better than they are now with Pistolesi so Pistolesi surely can't stay much longer.
