A good draw for Daniela, 1r Zheng 2r Errani 3r Kirilenko or Venus A normal Daniela should get to 3r but we just don't know these days... |

It's not too bad a draw. Daniela's alway beaten Zheng so she should be confident of doing so again, although Zheng's had some good wins and performances this year and the last match she had with Daniela was a tight three setter. Errani's had a very good year, although her results off clay haven't been that spectacular and Daniela crushed her twice last year. I think the third round will be tough but Daniela has to win a couple of matches before then. Right now, we have to take it one game at a time. It's important that Daniela has a good run here as she has a lot of points to defend and it's touch and go whether she can get a seeding for the US Open. |

Daniela serving for the match!! 5-3, 30-30 Daniela must take this now! MATCH POINT! urgh deuce...comon Daniela...MATCH POINT2! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Terrific win, saving a few match points mid way through the 2nd set. This match should give Daniela some degree of confidence. She's fighting back to form which as fans we can't ask any more from. I noticed from pictures that Cahill has been back helping Daniela, maybe Claudio has been given the push? |

Excellent fight-she was obviously in no kind of form in the 1st set but ground it out. |

Live from Cincinnati, it's the 2012 Danielathon! I was trying to follow this on my phone at hospital. At 2-6, 1-3, D.I.W. (Dead In Water), I rummaged through the mental juke box, where I file several songs to hum to myself when Dani is in trouble (that's part of being a Daniela Maniac, wouldn't you think?) and pulled out the Cars "Let The Good Times Roll." Ding-Ding-Ding! Good choice. One of you, I'm sure, will post just how many match points she saved. And when was the last time Daniela won a tiebreaker at all, much less dominate one? At 0-2 in the 3rd, my phone cut out. So I went into the Forum, where I should have been all along, to see Eddy's post that she was at match point! In the words of an American TV personality named Mr. Food: "Oooooh, it's so good!" This is the Daniela we know and love! Interesting that even while in her post-injury struggles, Daniela is 2-2 against players ranked higher than she is. It has been a full year since she beat a player in the top 10 when the match was played (Bartoli here in Cincinnati). Now she'll get a chance to do it again against Errani, who we can all hope Dani still owns. Let's Go, Daniela! |

I also want you to know that my wife is pulling through (again, she is the one person I know that ranks higher than Daniela as a fighter!). The power of prayer is astonishing, and if any of you did indeed pray for her (and I did read your best wishes messages), I thank you profusely. Daniela, thanks for the win today and the two in the Olympics; they are true spirit lifters. And, if you ever delve into the Forum, Dani, you can see that you have some amazing fans here! |

This is a really good win for Daniela. I said in the Montreal thread that she needed a battling win to get some confidence back and she got that today. Since she came back from injury, she hadn't won a match after losing the first set or won a tiebreak. Today she did both as well as saving match points and that's got to give her a big boost of confidence to know that she can win and come through in tight matches. Great win, Daniela! |
