Well that's a pretty sweet draw for the first two rounds. Daniela should be Hampton easy enough. Watson or Benesova will be tough but Daniela should be ok. Hope Radwanska can beat Venus as I think Danielas got more chance on grass to win against Aga. 4th round onwards the draw really opens up but I've got a feeling that Venus is going to come through that quarter. Anyway as long as Danielas fit and is able to compete Im happy. All the very best Daniela have fun out there!

I think Daniela should be able to beat Hampton easily enough. Hampton did have a good run at Indian Wells thrashing Hercog, beating Jankovic and taking a set off Agnieszka Radwanska although Hercog beat her in Miami. The rest of the time Hampton's not really done very much.
The second round could be tough as Benesova's had some good wins this year and Watson's an up-and-comer.
Right now, I'd be happy with Daniela getting to the third round and defending her points. Whether she plays Agnieszka or Venus Williams, it's going to be a difficult match and Daniela's got to get a couple of wins first. She has to focus on beating Hampton first.

Daniela once again unable to avoid a potential match against a Williams sister. Decent enough draw, should Watson get through Daniela will have to face up against a 'home' crowd, but it's not something she hasn't done before at Wimbledon. 3rd round would be more than acceptable considering her recent injury problems and not so perfect preperation in the warm up events.

As for this 1st round match, guys, I would wait for the chicken to hatch before I counted it. Hampton happens to be a very distant 2nd favorite of mine. She's a hard hitter with dogged determination, and Chungwit chronicled her successes earlier this year. Not only that, but for years now, the American press has had a field day with the lack of big-time US players after Lindsay finally stopped playing and with the Williams sisters getting older. They run out all the stuff about US players only care about getting decent prize money and they lack the hunger and fire of European or Asian players. When they do get around to what young talents are on the tour from America, they talk about Oudin, McHale and Sloane Stephens, with Jamie never getting a mention. So what I see is a dissed, fired-up, improving player ready to tangle with Dani. I also fear that beating Jankovic at Indian Wells is one thing, but that Jamie would see beating the far more famous Daniela at storied Wimbledon to be her signature, breakthrough victory. I do acknowledge that there's somewhat of a level playing field in that Hampton has been idle since the French with a back problem, so that she holds no edge on Dani's lengthy absence. But this one's got 3 sets/tiebreakers (or worse in a 3rd set her, of course)/Alka-Seltzer/Pepto-Bismol written all over it. I can hope that now that I've said this, Daniela will hit her stride and beat Hampton in 52 minutes. But I'm not counting on it. No matter what...Let's Go, Daniela!

Post subject:  Re: The Championships, Wimbledon

It really should be a simple win for Daniela here against Jamie. Daniela is very comfortable on a grasscourt whereas Jamie has never played at Wimbledon before. Daniela must stay focussed but as long as she serves well it should be no problem for her. Also if it turns into a long match Jamie is prone to cramping so Daniela should win the battle of the fitter player too. As always 1st round at Wimbledon is always the most nervewracking match of the year but I really think Daniela's experience should help prevail in this matchup.

Daniela I think will play on Monday. I have a feeling she'll be first on court 3. I wonder if im right??

Reasonable enough draw, but there's no way anyone can really feel confident any Daniela post-injury at this point. Recall after her injury in 2008 post-Miami, she wasn't back in top form until the fall run.
