With Indian Wells points off Daniela is currently ranked 16th, so any win here is very important...hope for a decent draw. At least a 4th round here would be great. Draw 1r BYE 2r Pous Tio or Zakapolova 3r Zvonareva 4r Li or Zheng QF Kvitova A good draw for Daniela. Zakapolova can be tough, don't know much about Pous Tio, Zvonareva has been injured for the last month so 4th round is definitely within reach. Daniela beat Li here in 2007 semis, so good memories there. A quarter-final would be awesome. |

It's a pretty decent draw that gives Daniela a chance of going on a run. Zakapolova's a reasonable player and she had a good run to the semis of Paris indoors beating Goerges although she's had first round exits in every other tournament she's been in this year. She's beaten some good players over the last couple of year so she can't be underestimated. Daniela's won all three of her matches against Zakopalova although two of them were three setters. Pios-Tio's coming back from injury and she's a clay courter who's played a lot on the ITF circuit. You'd really have to like Daniela's chances against her. Zvonareva had to retire in her last two matches in Pattaya and Doha so there are doubts over her fitness. Her recent matches against Daniela have all been tough battles so a match here would likely be another tough match. Parmentier is another potential third round opponent and she beat Daniela at the US Open and gave her a hell of a battle in the Fed Cup. The seeded opponents for the fourth round would be either Li Na or Zheng. Li played well in Australia but she had a devastating loss to Clijsters and has been troubled by a back injury since. Daniela won the last match and has a good record against Li. Daniela also beat her here on the way to the title in 2007. Zheng had a good start to the year winning Auckland and having a good run at the Australian Open but she's lost her first match in her last three tournaments and Daniela's always beaten her. If Daniela gets to the quarter-final, she'd probably play Kvitova which would be a very tough match. Daniela can do well here but she has to focus on getting past the first round and beating Zakopalova or Pios-Tio. |

Daniela's not playing doubles. Agnieszka withdrew from Kuala Lumpur with an elbow injury so I guess that she doesn't want to risk anything. Daniela's free to concentrate on singles and I suppose that not playing doubles here allow her to pace herself as the season is long and she's played a lot of matches already this year. |

'Koukie' can be an awkward opponent. She either plays lights out or utter rubbish-no inbetween. She doesn't have much of a serve,so Daniela should be able to exploit that-but given Dani's recent performances at IW nothing should be taken for granted. |

41 minutes, eh? On Friday that should be reached around 4 all in the 1st! Obviously I want Dani to go far here, even continue her every 5 year champion pattern. But I have now reached the nail-biting stage, as my trip to Miami is a week and a half away. No matter what happens at Indian Wells, please, Daniela, come to Miami in one piece!! |
