She needs a semi-final here to improve her ranking points. But any round win will give her points on the race ranking to Istanbul. Would be nice to draw a qualifier here in the first round.. An excellent draw considering the field. 1R Qualifier 2R BARTOLI(6)/Peng QF AZARENKA(1) or Goerges or Kuznetsova Daniela's certainly capable of a quarter-final here but as I said above a semi-final is needed to get more ranking points..

It's a pretty decent draw considering the quality of the field. There are some good players in qualifying so whoever the opponent is will have to be respected. Peng hasn't been playing well this year and Daniela has a very good record against Bartoli and as I type this Bartoli has just retired in Doha so we'll see how fit she is for Dubai. The quarter-final would be against Azarenka or the winner of Kuznetsova v Goerges but Daniela has to win a couple of matches before then. She just has to focus on her first match and winning that. It's so important that she keeps her momentum going. Daniela will have had the chance to rest and prepare so she should be in much better shape for this tournament than she was for Doha.

If Bartoli withdraws then Lisicki will become the #9 seed and replace Bartoli in the draw, making IMO Daniela's draw a lot tougher...

Azarenka will probably withdraw and if she will play she won´t get into semis i think, Daniela can make a solid result here. GL Dani!

1st set 0-1. Peng holds to 30 1-1. Daniela/Agnieszka hold to 0 1-2. 2-2. 2-3. Peng holds to 15 3-3. Daniela/Agnieszka hold to 15 (Wow! 100% 1st Serves so far) 3-4. Hsieh holds to 15 3-5. Daniela/Agnieszka saving a BP,but got broken to 30 3-6. Peng holds to 15 2nd set 1-0. Daniela holds to 30. long break after this game... 1-1. Hsieh/Peng hold to 0. 1-2. Agnieszka got broken 1-3.
