Hercog is a pretty good opener. She did beat Makarova in Sydney and Makarova went on to have a great run at the Australian Open but Hercog really hasn't done much else this year. Hercog beat Daniela in Beijing in 2010 so she has to be respected but as long as Daniela's fit and plays like she has been this year, you have to favour her.

The doubles loss sucks but it at least gave Daniela a chance to get used to the courts and the conditions.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

1-2. Daniela has a GP,df#1, Hercog gets the break... too many errors, only 44 % 1st serves
1-3. Hercog holds to 15

Maybe is wasn't pretty but it was a win from down 6/1 in the first set.

My goodness, that was a tough, tight match. The conditions weren't great with the wind and Daniela's backhand was misfiring plus Hercog played well so all these factors made it a very hard match so Daniela had to battle and get through it. It was great that she came through in the tiebreak as she'd lost a third set tiebreak the week before and lost the tiebreak in the Pattaya final so to win such a crucial tiebreak will do her confidence a lot of good.

Daniela'll have to play better tomorrow but tomorrow's another day and she can rest and make the adjustments.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

I glad we got to watch the match on TV and not just on live scores. I think I would have done some sort of damage to myself then. A little too close for my liking.

I think Dani's game was affected by the windy condition...
plus Hercog get all the balls...

Dani has 50 UE !!! :eek:

well I'm just happy that she win and her mental toughness is kinda high...she should be like this..well all the 1st RD match with qualifers were 3 sets... (Hercog is LL)...

hoping for an easier R2...GL Dani!

I don't know. Never fun to watch Daniela struggling so much,particularly when the opponent is playing so badly as well.
