It's a pretty decent draw for Daniela and it's always nice to be seeded at an event like this. Normally she'd beat Halep easily enough but Daniela has has to be awfully tired after all her exertions over the past week with the tough matches at the Fed Cup and Pattaya plus all the travelling from Europe to South East Asia and then to the Middle East with the changes in climate and conditions.

Benesova's had some good wins this year so she could be tough while Zahlavova-Strycova did beat Daniela at Wimbledon in 2010 but she hasn't beaten anyone good for a while.

Daniela's seeded to play Azarenka in the 3rd round and she beat Azarenka here last year but Azarenka's now the number 1 and she's in exceptional form while Daniela will probably be running on fumes.

A good run here would be fantastic but after her exertions over the past week, Daniela'll be tired and she had to withdraw in her first match after winning Pattaya last year in Dubai. We'll see how she does.

If my figuring is correct (that's always questionable), Doha markes Daniela's 300th official WTA tourney. Longevity is certainly a longsuit of Dani's. While I have argued rather strenously in the past that she knows her body and what she can take, in this case, if she chose not to play, that would be OK with me. If she goes ahead, let's hope that Halep plays horridly and Daniela can finish in an hour or so. Worked in Pattaya!

Halep is no pushover so this will be tough, especially due to Daniela's fatigue. Why they put Daniela on before cibulkova vs pennetta is beyond me as they got here probably a week ago! Anyway not expecting anything today but if Daniela can win this one it'll give her more time acclimatise and shake off fatigue.

At least she isn't playing at 12pm in the midday heat like last year in Dubai. That was just sadistic scheduling. :x

What an amazing shot that was. 2-1 but Daniela looks exhausted already..3-3...why did she come here..the backhand again is dodgy

4-3 great hold, daniela definitely trying to make the rallies as short as possible..5-3 wow..excellent first set despite a dodgy start..

6-3..

backhand again being silly..6-3, 0-1, 1-1, 2-1 breaks to love, Halep plays a great game 2-2 :( Halep holds to love with some awesome serves...2-3 Daniela must be careful here...oh dear 2-4... :(...Daniela looks tired and flat...2-5...this sucks...nothing's going her way now..set point Halep

6-3 2-6

Somehow Daniela's got to regroup and find energy from somewhere

This is an exact copy of last year against chakvetadze , doctor out taking tests...

1-2 Daniela serving...Halep playing typical annoying tennis, no mistakes..efffing fireworks :(

6-3 2-6 3-4..a must hold here for Daniela...I want to celebrate Pattaya some more and now we have this... ...4-5

I can't see Claudio's help making any difference...6-5 Daniela serving for the match... 0-15, 15-15, DF 15-30, OMG, 15-40, this is going the distance...

Halep d Hantuchova 3-6 6-2 7-6(4)

WHY DID DANIELA PLAY HERE??!! Sort your schedule out Daniela...all that for nothing!

I concur with eddy's bolded statement. Daniela said that she was going to plan her schedule to concentrate on the bigger events, but she lost today because her body hit the brick wall-simple as.
