Loved the cruel Daniela line, Benji! A wee bit late with this observation, but just when you figure that anyone could be pulled out of the seats and force Dani to play 3 sets and 3 hours in the first round, she crushes Wannabe in 1:01. That's why we love her! As for the next match, doesn't this pose a quandry for Aga!?

Vania again, blimey, it's a fast court so should favour Daniela, but she'll need her A game. Each match Vania gets closer to beating Daniela so again the first set will be very important for Daniela to win.

Patti1989: At this time of the season, many of Dani's matches take place in the middle of the night here in upstate New York. Your play-by-play posts are deeply appreciated. :) Another solid performance (I trust Aga will get over it soon enough!). Ms. King threatens 2 streaks: Daniela's 6-0 record over her, and Dani's 14 straight sets won at Pattaya. Long, long, long since, we all have learned to never be overconfident with out gal, but if one of the injuries doesn't flare up, her form right now is where we like it, and I'm hopeful for Daniela to advance.

A good solid win by Daniela, she won both sets going away and didn't spend too much time on court.

Daniela's always beaten King but the recent matches have all been close three setters. A lot will depend on Daniela's level and how well she's able to start. King has been playing well lately and she beat Pavlyuchenkova at the Australian Open. If Daniela plays well she should win easily enough and she'll have the confidence on crucial points as she's always come through against King in the past. It'll probably be tough and it'll be a nice bonus if Daniela wins easily, but the important thing is that Daniela wins.

I watched the match on TV. Daniela was playing well enough. Maybe it comes from the fact that Urszula could not move well because of her injuries.

However,one thing I noticed that Daniela was very relaxed and smiling throughout the match. :D :D Very nice to see it.

Draw continues to open up. Qualifier Hsieh has beaten Mirza in the bottom half, and in the top half Cirstea has beaten top-seed Zvonareva by retirement in the third set.

I don't understand why she struggles against Vania, comon Daniela turn this around...breaks back 5-5 now hold Daniela, this first set is so important..tiebreak :cry: 3-3 this can't be closer...4-3...comon two good serves please...argh 4-4 5-4 ace! 5-5...5-6...save it..6-6 this is crazy!


Daniela wins first set 7-6(7) what a set, 1 hour and 9 mins! COMON! Wish there was a stream!

Looked like a struggle but Daniela takes first set on tie break at 9-7 in 1:09. Stats are preety even except VK is 3/3 on break points and Daniela 3/9

Way to take the first set!!

She comes right back and breaks in the first game of set 2. 1-0
