A good win in the mixed doubles. Duckworth was annoying, everyone else was basically having a laugh, smiling and not taking it too seriously (at least until the Supertiebreak) but he was a bit too into it: intense stare all the time, always bouncing up and down and he had some tosser fan that was always bellowing out "Great serve, Ducky" or "Great Point, Ducky" whenever he won a point. Daniela and Leander shut him up.

Do Paes & Bhupathi still hate each other because it's Vesnina & Bhupathi next. Daniela won the 2005 U Open with Bhupathi and she played doubles in Moscow with Vesnina so they're all right.

Daniela's women's doubles is third on Margaret Court after a women's doubles and a men's match.

Any time Serena loses I'm happy so kudos to Ana. Daniela also plays mixed 2nd round tomo 5th on court 7.

Would much prefer a women's doubles win if had to choose.

Very nice win today in mixed. Daniela's getting used to winning this tournament so let's hope it can continue!

Pity Daniela could not take any advantage of an injured Serena. And while I much prefer Serena to Ana, it's nice to see the draw being more interesting.

I'm glad Daniela is going strong in doubles!

It's frustrating to hear that Serena thought of withdrawing before her match with Daniela. But I think Ana would have been too hot to handle in 4R.

Yeah, it's 5 wins out of 6 matches this week. Neat. I know you guys on the other side of the pond go through this a lot……so no complaints here about Dani being in 5th matches lasting till 4:00 AM in New York. Keep on rolling, young lady.
Daniela is awaiting a thank you from Ivanovic for softening Serena up! :o
The slate I just saw on the AO official site says that Daniela's mixed comes after 5 other matches: a wheelchair, 3 juniors, and another mixed. Talk about the latenight sounds of sports!
I found out yesterday that Carlsbad is no more; it was moved to Tokyo, replacing their tourney that they lost to China. That makes what happened there last year to me all that much more special.

Let's Go, Daniela!

Panic Room was on tv at the same time as the Ivanovic-Serena match. Coincidence? I think not.

Williams came up with the same excuse when she lost to Stephens last year and Makarova the year before, except those times the excuse was the ankle but this time it's the back. Daniela's had back, shoulder and foot problems on and off for years but she never uses them as an excuse.

Shazza was gushing errors like a fucked up oil rig whereas Domi was really solid in the rallies.

Mr Shazza just won, so Daniela's doubles will be on soon.

Doubles 3rd round:

1-0, Daniela holds to 0.
1-1, Vesnina holds to 15.
2-1, Lisa holds after going to deuce.
2-2, Makarova holds to 15.
2-3, Daniela broken to 30.
2-4, Vesnina holds to 15, had a couple of service winners & won the game with an ace.
2-5, Lisa broken to 30, saved 1 BP but served a DF on the 2nd. Makarova & Vesnina are playing really well at the moment, dictating most of the rallies. They've got 11 winners to 4 UEs while Daniela & Lisa have 7 winners to 6 errors plus 2 DFs.
3-5, Makarova broken to 30 on Daniela & Lisa's 2nd BP.
4-5, Daniela saves 3 set points to hold.
4-6, Vesnina serves out on her 1st GP. Daniela & lisa had a BP at 30-40 but Daniela netted the return and put a forehand wide on set point.

DirecTV has the match. That's fantastic! In games 4-5 1st set, unfortunately, Dani has not been. Her last service game was %#!&*!. At least tonight, I'm able to have the mute button on.
sigh...2-5. I don't like the body language; it looks like Raymond is disgusted. Like she wants to call for a pinch-hitter.
As I'm about to write them off, they get a break back. Then they save 2 set points, got lucky to save a third, pull it out to 4-5. Many of Daniela's serves, particularly 2nd serves, are making me wince.
Lost 1st set, Dani had a break point and room down the line on the backhand, but netted it. Then she winced.
Raymond double faults on break point to give the 2nd a glorious beginning. :( Then they break back at love. :?:
Dani somehow holds after 3 break points. I swear, you'd think they were about to be double bageled, yet they're in it.
Oddly, against serve Daniela has made a number of really good shots.
Wow, another break! 3-1. Body language not a problem right now. More bounce in Daniela's dances, some fist pumps. Naturally, Russians break right back. Raymond shows flashes of her long-time brilliance, but there are reasons why last year was her first in the last 16 with no doubles titles.
6 straight points for the Russians; 3-3.
Daniela holds. Her first serve is a hot mess. But she finished the game with an exceptional serve. As always, no matter how painful it can be at times, she's hanging in and fighting. It's why we love her!
Raymond's 1st serve has been revolting. This 4-4 game is ridiculous! Dani's made 3 brilliant saves at net. Can I get a witness?! 6 BP's saves and Raymond finally holds after 11 minutes and 5 game points. They were down 0-40. It Don't Come Easy!
5-5, must hold for our gal. Another BP save, 15 out of 19. Daniela's best serve of the match gives them game pt., but they don't convert. Great stuff at net by Raymond for another game point. 6-5, big Dani fist pump! It has become a Daniela doubles Danielathon! I don't know what she'll have left for mixed.
Tiebreak....the last thing I wanted. So far, Daniela has brought her best tennis of the match....up 4-2.
YEAH! Dani was so freakin' good in the tiebreak, she won it for them!
I would tell anybody that I'd stay up all night to watch Daniela play. Right now she's making me prove it!
Tanks have emptied fast. 0-3. 1-3 despite horrid serving by Raymond. Break is badly needed. Had a BP, phooey.
Another Houdini escape down a BP, saved 16 of 21. But it looks like reality is about to set in, 2-5.
Really, if I was rooting for the Russians I'd be boiling mad. They should have clinched this about 20 days ago. 2 match points down. Dani saves one with a smash at net, which she didn't do often enough, too many finesse shots at net.
And it's over.

Let's Go, Daniela!

2nd set:

0-1, Lisa broken to 30. Was 30-0 up but then Lisa made 3 errors and a DF on BP.
1-1, Vesnina broken to 0.
2-1, Daniela saves 3 BPs to hold. On the third BP Daniela's shot was called out, she challenges as she's going to sit down, Hawkeye shows it's in by a millimetre, Daniela & Lisa get up and win the replayed and then hold.
3-1, Makarova broken to 15.
3-2, Lisa broken to 30.
3-3, Vesnina holds to 0.
4-3, Daniela holds to 15, she served really well in that game.
4-4, Makarova holds to 0.
5-4, Lisa holds after a 12 minute games on the 5th GP, came back from 0-40 and saved 3 other BPs.
5-5, Vesnina holds to 15.
6-5, Daniela holds on her 2nd GP, saved a BP at 30-40.
6-6, Makarova holds to 15.

Tiebreak*= Daniela & Lisa serving
0-1*
1-1, Daniela challenged and the ball was out.
1-2.
2-2*
3-2*
4-2
4-3
4-4*, DF by Lisa.
5-4*
6-4, great down the line return winner by Daniela.
6-5.
7-5

3rd set:
0-1, Vesnina holds to 0.
0-2, Daniela broken to 15, first sub par game from her for a long time.
0-3, Makarova holds to 15.
1-3, Lisa holds on her 2nd GP, served 2 DFs.
1-4, Vesnina holds on her 2nd GP, Daneila & Lisa had a BP at 30-40.
2-4, Daniela saves a BP to hold, came up with some clutch serves that game.
2-5, Makarova holds to 30.
2-6, Makarova and Vesnina break Lisa to 30 to win on their 2nd MP.

This is disappointing but the better team won. The difference in the match was that Vesnina & Makarova were really consistent and their level never dipped too much while Daniela & Lisa never really played well at the same time, except for late on in the second set. Vesnina & Makarova were a lot stronger on 2nd serve, so they were generally comfortable on serve and Daniela & Lisa never had too many chances to break them while they were under pressure a lot and they generally came up big when facing BPs otherwise they could have lost in straight sets.
Still, Vesnina & Makarova are one of the top teams and Daniela & Lisa competed well with them and made them earn the win and Daniela played some great tennis at times, but Vesnina & Makarova were just too consistent over the course of the match

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.
