Oh well, that's the clay season over and Madrid was really the only bright spot. Daniela and Rojer fought back from 3-5 down to 6-5 in the first set but after winning the first point of the tiebreak Hradecka & Cermak went 6-1 up and held off the fight back and then went on to dominate the second set. A run here would have been great but it wasn't to be.

I think Daniela was looking past the mixed doubles and focusing more on the grass according to Sven Groenefeld:
Today I spend a few hours on court with Daniela Hantuchova who is practicing on the syntactic grass in preparation for her coming tournaments on Grass!

I guess that is the best attitude. Where is she playing for the grass season?

I wish she would play in the Netherlands. It's not a super strong field.

Daniela said she's playing Birmingham, Hertogenbosch & Wimbledon.

Good gosh, Daniela's milestones are so friggin' close, and she just can't get them yet. Frustrating as all get out. I'd hope that she hops home to Monte Carlo for a couple of day and just vegges before beginning spending nearly every waking minute practicing on grass. If she isn't able to 2 matches in 3 tourneys on her favorite surface and get that 500th, I might take the bridge!

Hey, I graduated! No more Tier! However, I would gladly give my new status to Daniela in an instant.

This 2nd Round of mixed double was not bad, in fact very tight. Hradecka was constantly dangerous. Daniela made a good match, had some very good shots.

There was a funny moment when the physiotherapist came on the court (see details on the pictures thread)

Maybe beating Daniela is some kind of lucky charm?

Daniela got a lot of criticism for losing 5 games in a row to Jankovic yet Jankovic had 3 bagel sets in her next 4 matches, including against Shazza today, even though Shazza ended up winning.

To be fair,Sharapova basically bagelled herself with 20 unforced errors in 6 games. :P

Well, I would have liked to see Jelena reach the semis. At least Daniela's loss was not wasted on a mediocre opponent.

My god, I'm really starting to believe that beating Daniela creates some sort of lucky spell for the winner.

For Maria/Vika (otherwise known as Why Bother Winner Faces Serena Slaughter), were all spectators provided with ear plugs!?

Hradecka got confidence from practising with Daniela in Strasbourg. Having said that Hradecka is one of the best doubles players and it would have been interesting to see what Daniela & Hradecka could have done as a team.

It is remarkable how often players that beat Daniela have a great run or have amazing form: Jankovic here, Kanepi won Brussels, Halep got to the Rome semis, Torro-Flor had some good wins in Madrid and even Erakovic beat Cibulkova here. I do wonder how much better Daniela would have done if her shoulder was a bit better or she'd been able to win a tiebreak.
