Daniela played pretty well. First set could have been closed easier, but she played what she had to. Especially her serve was decent at crucial points.  I think she even had 100% at net

Absolutely superb win by Daniela to go and beat Jankovic in front of her home fans on red clay. It's really good that Daniela won the tiebreak as her recent tiebreak record hadn't been that good but she came through and won the crucial points. A really great performance and win. Come on Magda and win it here, Daniela could do with taking the doubles off. |

Daniela,what can I say? We're supposed to spoil you on your birthday,not the other way around!  Just a superb win and real professional acumen shown by Daniela in playing this tie despite all the handicaps,and skipping Stuttgart. |

6-1 Jovanovski. Jovanovski 2/3 on BPS, Rybarikova 0/11. Tells you all you need to know about that set. Sometimes Jovanovski came up with great shots to save the BPs, most of the time it was bad errors by Rybarikova. Second set has to be better.  Rybarikova finally gets a break: 2-0.

You've got to give a lot of credit to Jovanovski, she played well, her groundstrokes were powerful and she hit some great winners. Rybarikova never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Pretty much all the games went to deuce but Rybarikova never looked like she'd win an important points unless Jovanovski made an error. Rybarikova made so many errors and had so many chances that she never took. Normally when Daniela has a good win I can enjoy it for at least a day, this time I enjoyed it for an hour or so. Hopefully Daniela can produce something good in the doubles, because it looks like she'll have to carry the team. |

Fantastic win for Daniela, I said it would take a massive effort to beat Jankovic twice on the spin and she only went and pulled it off. Congrats Daniela, so far so good for the clay court season, which has been notoriously her worst surface over the years, lets hope she turns that around this year  Scott |
