She did well to take out the second set. Hopefully she can start the 3rd well. I'm still not sold on her movement.

Daniela still manages to hold her opening service game, and now has two break points on Bondarenko's serve. If she can break here then she could potentially run away with the deciding set. Although I won't be holding my breath.

2-0 up in the third now...

The scoreboard is updating quicker than the stream XD

I knew Daniela had broken before the final point was played. I'm not sure if it's just my net/comp though.

Match point Daniela...

And she takes it! A really good win, coming back from a first set thumping to take the match 2-6 6-2 6-1.

Dinara Safina or Yaroslava Shvedova up next in the quarter-finals.

I'm really hoping she'll play Safina. She'd go in with no pressure and would probably play good tennis. And who knows, a win against Dinara could mean big things for the remainder of Daniela's season. *fingers crossed*

Bravo Daniela, that was a nice win ! What happened in the last 2 sets ?
Did Daniela improve her game or was it Bondarenko who actually collapsed ??
Whatever is the case, the point is that Daniela won and goes to qf.

Hmmm...i would prefer Shvedova. I think that Safina is "too much" for Daniela, even if she is still shocked by the loss of the RG final. But this is all theory, we ll see on the court what’s gonna happen...

Dinara has certainly put her RG final loss behind her (she thrashed Groenefeld 6-0 6-3 yesterday, winning six games in a row in both sets), so I don't think that is going to hamper her future performances. I really can't see Shvedova beating the world number 1, so I think it will be a Safina v Hantuchova quarter-final. I don't have particularly high expectations since Safina is in top-form and, despite the surface, is still very capable of comfortably beating Daniela if Daniela doesn't bring her A-game to the court. I just hope Daniela is able to perform well. I would really like her to take a set off Safina. If she gets off to a good start and is able to win the opening set then anything can happen.

It could be a really challenge for Daniela to play against Safina. If Daniela plays well she will beat her I guess:D Nice to see her got through. Hope to see her play well still coz Wimbledon is coming up!!

Daniela won easily enough in the end but some of her play was a bit :?

First set was pretty bad as Daniela made a lot of errors and her footwork wasn't good which led to a lot of them. The number of double faults she had was worrying and the two double faults she had to drop her serve at 2-0 in the first led to a collapse. If she'd held serve there, she'd probably have won the set as easily as she did the last two, but she dropped it and her level dropped with some bad errors and K. Bondarenko played well in the first set and hit some good shots. The match was down to Daniela's level and it went up in the last two sets. She was a little more patient, positioned herself for shots better and constructed the points more and moved Bondarenko around a bit more than in the first. She used less slice than against Vinci.

Safina's been to the final here a couple of times but her Wimbledon record is pretty modest and grass is her weakest surface so Daniela would have a chance against her. Daniela will have to raise her game against Safina and she couldn't have any of the errors or lapses she had against Bondarenko but she's in the quarters and being able to turn this match around and gain momentum will give her confidence.

totally forgot that Daniela played today. Good she won. Good luck against Safina. Most top players have struggled in Eastbourne, let's hope the same goes for this tournament :)

Safina just beat Shvedova 6-3 6-3. Safina was pounding away with big groundstrokes and dictating points from the middle of the court although Shvedova had success when she got Safina out wide and hit the return into the open court or wrong footing Safina by hitting it back into the corner while Safina's trying to get back in court. Something for Daniela to try.

Someone should tell Safina that tomorrow's a slam final.

“I had a slow start”, Hantuchova admitted afterwards. “I had to focus more on my own game. When I finally managed to do that, I could turn the match around.” In the quarter finals Hantuchova is playing against the winner of Dinara Safina vs. Yaroslava Shvedova. “It would be nice if I could play against Safina. That should be a good test for me. Dinara is a good friend of me, it is bound to be a good match.”
