It was pretty funny though. It was in Toronto 05 and Navratilova was practising with Groenefeld. After, the session was over Groenefeld went over and was signing autographs for whoever wanted one, there weren't that many though. There was a great big throng wanting Navratilova's autograph and she said "I'm focussing on my match, I'll sign autographs after the match" and then someone said "Good Luck" and Martina glowers and says "It's not about luck, it's about focus and desire." Someone, who may or may may not have been me, says "Good Luck anyway" and steam starts coming out of her ears and she starts eyeballing the crowd before she gets on a cart and gets driven off. I've got to admit, I did giggle a bit.

One thing in Navartilova's favour is that she thinks Sears is a total gimpsack.

I met Martina Hingis in Rome and she was fine, I didn't ask her about Sol Campbell though.

Since Hingis signed my shirt last year, I shouldn't be such a castigator.

Should Pennetta, Stephens and Halep win their next match, Daniela will move up to #33 going into Miami. I worry about later in the year and all the points she can lose in Birmingham and New York and how far down the ranking goes then. Then again, maybe she has another successful title defense up her sleeve ;)

Daniela needs a deep run in a big tournament this year and soon...

Somehow Daniela's managed to snatch the 32nd seed for Miami. Not that'll it'll probably help much but at least that's something...

Halep just beat Dellacqua. So #33 will Daniela be.

I can't complain about Daniela getting seeded in Miami. She only has her first round win to defend from last year so if she wins her second round match she's gained points. It also gives Daniela another couple of days to recuperate and get fitter. We'll just see what the draw is like because she'll be playing someone that's already won a match there and will be used to the court and conditions. Daniela's done better in Miami than Indian Wells in recent years and a run in Miami would be fantastic.
