Hello again everyone :)

Well, I thought both Caroline and I played a great match today, and it was very close, but unfortunately I didn't win. It was one of those days where you're playing great and giving your best but it's just not meant to happen. The fact that I won more points in the match shows how many chances I had - but I can take a lot of positives out of it, like it was 100% better for me than the match before, and the crowd enjoyed it and gave us so much support, which meant a lot.

The fans in Sofia are great. They've been so nice to me all week and I feel very welcome here. I think they've really been getting into the matches and I'm sure over the weekend it will be even more packed here. It's the first year of the tournament being here and I think people are starting to really realize it's a great event to have here in Bulgaria - and hopefully it will bring more attention to tennis in the country and more kids will pick up a racquet and start playing this sport!

Oh and also, I had a day off yesterday and I went to the Slovak embassy, and we met the Slovak ambassador and spent some time with him. It was nice to go there, when you're in another country it always feels like going home :)

Today was quite a late night for me, as the matches went very long today, but now I'm back and I'm going to try and recover as much as I can for the last match of the season tomorrow. There's no pressure so I will enjoy it!

One other thing I need to mention - obviously it's all over the news. I want to say how sad it is to see what has happened in the US with Hurricane Sandy. It's so unfortunate what they have had to deal with, not just what happened when it hit, but everything that's happening now, all of the damage and millions without power. I've been watching it very closely. New York is one of my favorite places in the world. The people there are wonderful and I hope they can recover...

Thanks for all of your fan questions too - I'll do a few more now.

Love,

Dani

I discover yesterday that she's taking questions for her WTA blog, so i sent two, and naturally, she didn't blog yesterday, and I can hardly fathom she'll be in any mood to do it today.

:) :!:  So I'm wrong again. Daniela just posted her Thursday blog. SHE ANSWERED MY QUESTION!!!!!!!!!! I'm stunned. She is so wonderful!!! And I didn't think she'd give the answer that she did. WhoooooooooooooooooooooooooHoooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

What is your favorite city to visit in the USA? Alex, USA
Obviously New York is my favorite, and like I mentioned earlier, I feel so sorry for what has happened there. As for other places, I love California - especially the San Diego area. Rancho Santa Fe as well. I just love being out there, not just for tennis, but also golf, surfing... And of course, Indian Wells will be a special place for me for the rest of my life. And I really enjoy Miami too.

Hantuchova: This is one of the best tournaments in the world!

02/11/2012

Despite fatigue, disappointment and lost two hours late, Hantuchova continue to be bright and wide smile on his face stood before the microphone to answer any questions.

"I was close to victory, but it did not work. A lost point here, one there and here that the battle is over. It is normal to be disappointed, once control of the fight for the most part," said Hantuchova.

Specific targets will not be set. Most importantly I am healthy. You know, this year I missed a few months because of injury. It is never easy to get back to his best tennis when he was absent from the court continued. So for me the most important thing is to be healthy and able to play.

Asked by the reporter if he Tennis24.bg participated in the tournament in Sofia next year, if this option Hantuchova said: "Honestly, I hope to qualify for the tournament on the Women's Tennis Association (8-top in the world) . You never know what will happen?

I am very delighted with the organization of the tournament in Sofia. This is one of the best organized tournaments in the world. The focus for us is great, we have our own cars, even their own dressing rooms. We have everything we need. I feel perfect here."

Hantuchova delighted by the tournament in Sofia

Daniela Hantuchova shared her admiration for Qatar Airways Tournament of Champions, which is carried out in Sofia for a first time. The Slovak lost her chance to play in the semi-final, after she couldn’t win in her first two matches in group “Serdika”. One can only hope that Dani is setting us up for one of the great reversals of form in the course of a match in her career.

This match is a hot mess, she lost the first set in 17 mins...but playing much better in the 2nd set 5-0 up...and won 2nd set 6-0 in 20 mins...

Daniela breaks Hsieh in first game, I love her coach's attitude, they all know this match is so important for Daniela's confidence and set's up for a positive off season.

1-0
2-0
2-1
3-1 some awful easy misses though from Daniela but holds on...
3-2 several break points again went begging,
3-3 and of course Hsieh breaks back first time of asking, seriously this just doesn't get any worse than this...
3-4 Hsieh holds to 30, dear oh dear, I just want this week to end...
4-4
4-5 i can't bear the next game...

I will cry if Daniela loses this match...

She lost 6-4 in the 3rd set, i'm very sad, Daniela doesn't deserve this...I'm proud of how she fought but she must be SO SO SO frustrated to end up losing all 3 rubbers.

She converted 11/38 break points in 3 matches, if she'd won about 2 more she'd have won two matches...

GOOD RIDANCE SOFIA WITH YOUR SHIT SURFACE WHERE YOU CAN'T CONTROL THE BALL, SORT IT OUT FOR NEXT YEAR PLEASE

Well it wouldn't be a Daniela season if she didn't lose a match whilst bagelling her opponent. :wall:

So furious right now. no excuse for letting that match slip away.

I absolutely don't believe this. Daniela basically had the match won at 3-1 40-0 in the third and then she blew it. If she'd gotten the double break that she should have then she'd have won going away but that kept Hsieh in it and she started to get more balls in while Daniela made loads of errors. This is a terrible loss as Hsieh is a dreadful player and Daniela gave her the match through errors.

Daniela's a strong and resilient woman but this tournament will hurt her a lot. There is the positive of her performance against Wozniacki which she really should have won but the rest of the tournament has been awful.

Hopefully Daniela can have a good offseason and comeback strong for the new year. Olympics apart this year has been utterly shit since February.

I'm so upset and depressed right now. God knows how Daniela must be feeling.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

We don't know how reliable that source is...we'll just see what happens...but yeah i'm scared...you can't enjoy your tennis out there if the results don't come and you're working so hard in practice...praying for a fantastic start next year...

We'll just see what happens. It must be so depressing for Daniela to lose to players like Niculescu and Hsieh that she would beat easily when anywhere near her best plus the injuries have been adding up recently. The Olympics are a big motivation for her and Rio is a long time in the future. I think a lot will depend on how well she does at the start of next year as she has a lot of points to defend and how competitive she feels she can be. I'm sure that she'll want to do well in the Fed Cup, have another crack at Indian Wells and do better in the slams.

Like eddy said, we don't know how reliable that source is so it has to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Daniela is so talented that she can do so much with her life and I'm sure that whatever she sets her mind to then she'd be good at it.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Well, for awhile it looked like an astounding reversal of form. Dani spoke of taking a long rest, then getting back to work. She needs that rest. So do we. We saw too many bottom feeders have their careers made this year. I suppose, to ignore reality for a moment (I'm good at that), had any of us been told on New Year's Day that Daniela would do well in the Olympics, pull out 2 clutch Fed Cup wins, and defend her Pattaya title in a thrilling final, it would have been OK with most of us. I truly feel that she's real close to being a force again, and can hope that her work with her new/old coach will put her over the hump early next year. And, between yesterday's blog reply and the autograph and photo in Miami, Daniela made it one exceptionally wonderful year for this Maniac!!

Let's Go, Daniela!

Seriously though, anyone else think the surface and the 500m above sea level just was not suited to Daniela's game...

I actually feel a lot better now...she almost won two out of her three matches, a few points here and there would have made all the difference...

We're on the same wavelength, Eddy. Daniela is so (bleep)in' close, and we know she'll push as hard as possible until she gets there. Sometime soon I'm gonna go through her matches since returning from injury, and I'll bet I find all kinds of losses that could easliy went the other way.

Check Dani's FB page...way to be, Chungwit. It's fun to contribute to her page and the Forum at the same time. :)

One thing I noticed in her match with Caroline is she was gasping for air towards the end of the third set. I've never seen her look so gassed in a match before(as we know, she's played some epics in her career),and presumably it was the altitude having an effect on her.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :!: :!: Please, don't awaken me! Please, don't anyone throw a bucket of ice water at me! There's nothing real in the world anymore! :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav:
Two days in a row, guys! And the 1st 12 words in Daniela's reply....this can't be happening to me!!! I have tried so hard to make some sort of contact with Dani; tonight, I feel like we have connected. It is absolutely incredible! I do believe that soon I will take down my Contacting Daniela topic...it has happened!
In my time in the Forum, I'm sure that you have seen that I'm almost pollyannish about Daniela, hardly ever critical. Like you wouldn't see me say that in the 1st set today, she would have been better off to let Venus De Milo take her place on serve.:o Well, after the last 2 days (and it is clearly worth noting that she answered me and other people's questions each of the last 2 days at somewhere around 2:00 AM Sofia time after painful defeats), if you ever see me say anything bad about Daniela, take me behind the woodshed and whip my bottom! Pardon me now while I float above cloud 9!

Let's Go, Daniela!
