Danka would need to win 2 more matches to be seeded at Roland Garros.

Personally I think it is an advantage to be seeded. She wouldn't meet a higher ranked player until the 3rd round which is preferable to me. Being unseeded would mean the risk of meeting a top10 in the two first rounds. If she is unseeded and meets a 25-32 seed in the first or second round it would be the same as being seeded. The only advantage I see of being unseeded is the chance of meeting Cornet in the first or second round  and postponing the meeting with a top8 player until the 4th round. But remember this is the French Open. She has only made it to the 4th round here twice: 2002 and 2006. I don't expect her to do so this year. I will be more than satisfied with a 3rd round.

Is it me or are the updated rankings this week all wrong!? - cornet has stayed at no.15 even though she lost her final points from rome last year - it dont make sense...unless rome points come off after this week due to the new schedule?

points come off after 52, so Berlin points have just been taken off. Cornet will drop her 2008 Rome when 2009 Madrid points are added, in other words, the change will be seen on Monday

Quite happy to see Daniela's first round result. I'm pretty convinced that she's playing good tennis.

So how far does Daniela have to progress to be seeded at RG? (EDIT: ignore that question. I just read the answer aha) i'm assuming she'll have to defeat Jankovic in the next round... no easy task. Although i wouldn't say she has no chance of victory. Jelena's results this year have been less than impressive and Daniela seems to be in some good form, so an upset could be on the cards. But if Jelena is playing moderately well i can't imagine Daniela winning - given the surface.

Personally i think it's best for Dani to be seeded at RG. While theoretically it'd be great for Daniela to draw Cornet (again) and take her place in the draw (possibly avoiding a top 10 player until the 4th round), the likelihood of Daniela getting to the fourth round of RG is pretty slim. After all she is still yet to win 3 matches in a row, for quite some time. The best thing Daniela can do is scrape into the seedings so she can increase her chances of making it to the 2nd or third round, because realistically she's not going to win 3-4 matches in a row on clay.

A missed opportunity in the opening game for Daniela; had two break points but couldn't convert. Jankovic leads 1-0*.

If she had taken her game points in the previous game she would have been a break up by now...well at least she got the break back, comon daniela, serve strongly now. Great hold 3-3! With an ace too..! Daniela breaks to love!!!! She won 8 points in a row WTF! Ok must not get too excited now...

Daniela has won the last 15 points in a row. Jelena must be injured or Daniela is playing the match of her life Daniela 5-3 to the good but it's only one break as Jelena is serving. Jelena just held to love, Daniela is trying to serve out the set, comon Daniela you can do it!!!!!!

Daniela - JJ 0-15 15-15 15-30 FIGHT! 30-30 ace#4 TWO points!!! break point :( deuce well fought, break point :(

5-5 Jelena breaks back - to be fair Daniela never had a set point but 2 points is to be one set to the good is agonisingly close...
