Well, that was easy. I feel Daniela could maybe have done with a tougher match to get her used to the conditions.

But seriously :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav:

God, this is great. I don't think that Daniela was at her best but she showed so much fight and resilience to keep coming back and I'm so proud of her effort and that she never gave up and kept going.

WOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Daniela is awesome at playing tiebreakers!!!

I'm so happy she won that match. It was ugly to follow on the livescore. RELIEF at last! but I feel drained now! ;)

yeah, it is demanding to follow a score board for almost 3 hours. I wonder who is more drained - us or her, lol.

I hope these wavies don't trigger any fits or anything, they've got quite a weird effect on screen.

US!!!!

That was really too close for my liking, but this win could do her confidence wonders, especially since she saved match points and really fought well!

That was a heart-breaker, even for Daniela's standards...
As mentioned above, Daniela has to ask herself a few questions
about her performance ( ok, i'm judging from the stats like everyone else )
but on the other hand she came back from 0-3 at the third set,
plus she saved a couple of match points. We have to give her that.
Anyway, a win is a win and whether its easy or not, it gives you the same points.
Tomorrow its her chance to take advantage of Elena's loss...

My elbow hurts from punching the air so much and I was on the floor screaming away and I could hardly get up, I felt so drained and light headed.

I am so pleased for Daniela that she got through this match and it has to do her confidence good that she came through a tough match like this, saving match points and coming from a break down in the final set and this is her first win from a set down for a long, long time* which has to be a boost to her as she's lost a lot of her recent matches after losing the first set. While Daniela wasn't at her best, wins like this will do a lot for her confidence and she lives to fight another day. It also shows her fitness that she was able to hang in and come back and win such a long match.

*New Haven against Govortsova.

If I am not mistaken, Daniela is now 5-0 in tie-breaks this year. Including Fed Cup.

Cetkovska looks a bit rough:

Dementieva said she lost because she was tired but I think she was freaked out.

Jankovic is out. Just lost 6-6 6-4 to Pavlyuchenkova. Yet another upset in this tournament.

I feel the only appropriate reaction is to quote Barney Gumble of the Simpsons:

"Uh-oh,my heart just stopped......Ah,there it goes!"

Seriously,I love it when Daniela wins matches like this, never a dull moment with Miss Hantuchova!

with so many top seeds were sidelined yesterday, Daniela's win is much better. I am glad she didn't give up and saved 2 match points to get to the win. Well fighting, Daniela.

Well, I arrived home now and I went straight to the scoreboard to see the result .
I must say that i was hoping an easier match but on the other hand Wickmayer was supposed to be an easy match for Rybarikova and she lost in straight sets.
In 2007 she also had a 3-setter in her 2nd round match and won the title.
Cetkovska will be a great test for Daniela . She's nr71 so Daniela must be considered favourite but Cetkovska is now in her highest ranking ever and she'll be for sure more confident after her win against Dementieva . This is going to be the first match between them .
If she wins the highest she'll face would be Sybille Bammer , nr28 in the world but Daniela leads their H2H 2-1 .
I'm really seeing some QF here , please Daniela don't let me down .

When I saw that Cetkovska had beaten Dementieva, my first thought ,if I was honest, was, I bet Daniela messes it up against Wickmayer, and she done her best to do so. But the first posts I read on here put a smile on my face to read that Daniela fought and fought and fought and never gave up when, it sounds like, she was behind. I hope yesterdays match hasnt taken too much out of her as she will face another tough test against Cetkovska who is going to be on a massive massive high
