Didn't see the match but nice to win in straight sets and the 2nd seemed relatively comfortable. I swear Daniela always plays better when she's losing as Lino was serving 5-4 up for the first set and Daniela suddenly found her game an won 3 games in a row.

Any highlights from the first two matches most welcome!

Peng next, will be very tough but I think Daniela can do it.

Ohh and a very Happy Birthday Daniela!!!!!!!!

That was the first of the 6 straight service breaks, eddy. Lino never came close to a set point in that game. And I failed to mention that when Dani held to love to make it 5-2, she finished Lino off by breaking her to love. Clutch and at the end, ruthless. Gotta like that!

Checked out a highlight video. Sweet to see Dani's aggressiveness and especially how much more she's going to the net. Yet she still has the finesse. She won match point on a drop shot! :D

Let's Go, Daniela!

Another good win where Daniela showed her fighting qualities to comeback from Dominguez Lino serving for the first set to break twice to win the set and then after a scrappy start to the second she ran away with it winning the last two games to love.

It makes this a great birthday for Daniela.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Good last couple of games from Dani, after a sloppy start of the 2nd set :)
Against Peng, she leads the h2h 2-0 but the two wins came on Hard Courts. Peng, in Charleston, was eliminated in the 3R by Errani (7-6, 7-6) and she won against Keys and Garcia.
On Clay Courts, Dani has a record of 50 wins to 34 losses (59.5%) while Peng has 58-42 (58%). I think it is going to be veeeery though but Daniela in her best shape can get that SF.

MARRAKECH, Morocco - Top-seeded Daniela Hantuchova continued her dominance of Lourdes Domínguez Lino in the second round of the Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem on Wednesday, though this time she was tested.

Hantuchova came into the match 6-0 against the Spaniard, but 2013 Marrakech runner-up Domínguez Lino actually served for the first set this time. However, Hantuchova took over from there in winning five straight games and the last 12 points of her 75 62 triumph that came on her 31st birthday. She is now 14-1 in sets in their head-to-head, with ironically her one loss of a set being a 6-0 defeat in Fed Cup play in 2012.

"I have so much respect for her," Hantuchova said. "I know her track record and I knew it wasn't going to be easy. In this kind of tournament, you have to be ready for every single match and just take it one step at a time.

"It's always special to have my birthday here in Marrakech. I love being here. It's a beautiful place. For now, I'm just going to enjoy it with my mom."

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Excellent stats, Artur, thank you for that. Peng will be Daniela's toughest test in quite a while. She may well be up to it.

Let's Go, Daniela!

Daniela's the last match on Centre Court, not before 5:30 pm. Play starts at 1pm.

Yes Peng has withdrawn. Was very weird as I woke up this morning and thought to myself several times I bet you Peng will withdraw...shame as would have been a good match.

Oprandi next in the semis and if Daniela wins that she will be in her first ever clay final! But will be very tough!

Yes in Rome a few years ago. Daniela won 75 61 I think and was a tough match as Oprandi has an amazing drop shot and slice. Oprandi got injured in the 2nd set so the one sided second set is misleading. If Daniela wins she will definitely deserve a spot in the final as Oprandi is very good on clay.

Well, thanks Peng for this easy access to the SF, although I also think it would have been a great match!
So, here come the stats, again:
As it was told already, Dani has a victory over Oprandi for 7-5, 6-1 three years ago. In clay she has a W/L of 16-13 with a QF 2 weeks ago in Bogota, beating Maria and Begu before losing 7-5, 6-1 to Caroline Garcia.

Another break for Daniela: Not only has she had two off days, but she gets the first of the semis. It's for 2:00 PM (for me that's 9:00 AM).

Let's Go, Daniela!
