It's a great draw for Daniela, but will she take advantage of it?

It's actually quite nice that Daniela's seeded and given the field this is a tournament where Daniela can do well and go on a good run, especially if she plays like she did in the Fed Cup or Madrid. It's also a good chance for her to pick up points and go back up the rankings. At the same time, Daniela was upset early in Charleston and Marrakesh.
Torro-Flor beat Voegele in the Rome qualifying and she had good wins in Madrid beating Niculescu & Larsson in qualifying & beating Schiavone and taking Bartoli to 3 sets in the main draw. At the same time she hasn't done too much else this year but she still has to be respected. Oh, and she's very loud.

Daniela's playing doubles with Lucie Hradecka this week and although it's likely to be just for this week, I think they should do well as they're top seeds and Hradecka is one of the top doubles players and she's won the Roland Garros doubles with Hlavackova.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Be ready for a wild ride this week, guys. Daniela can accomplish so much in the next few days, both towards her ranking and historically. But all I see in the Strasbourg forecast is rain, rain, and more rain. :x We'll be doing a lot of hanging in there; here's hoping Daniela does as well.

Indeed, everything's backed up as I write this (4:30 PM in France). Daniela's doubles match and all other doubles have been scrubbed. This ain't gonna be fun, guys.

Let's Go, Daniela!

The weather in Strasbourg is indeed awful. Hope it improves. We dont want a pattaya schedule all over again.

Also Pennetta is the qualifier placed for potential 2nd round opponent. Tge one qualifier I wasn't wanting to be placed there..oh well, Daniela's got to get past Torro-Flor first..

This is not geting better. Daniela vs. Torro is 5th scheduled match on the feature court. The forecast...you guessed it. On the bright side, eddy, if Daniela gets to play Pennetta, then win #500 will have more luster, since it would come against a long-time rival and a worthy opponent. We know how Dani's fared against low-ranked/little known qualifiers. Here, she knows what she's up against. Of course, she has to get there, and the combo of complete unknown/distracting screamer/delayed match is not good. Daniela will need to call on her professionalism, like she has in her qualifiers, to get through this. No guarantees, but we know she can.

Let's Go, Daniela!

The scheduling isn't ideal, especially with the poor weather, and she could get backed up in the schedule which is a bit of a concern especially with Roland Garros coming up. Daniela has to concentrate on getting past Torro-Flor and Torro-Flor had some good wins in Madrid so could be tough and has to be respected. Daniela has to be focused and bring her best tennis as she's had some great wins this year but she's also lost to some fairly average players. It wouldn't surprise me if this match got moved to one of the outside courts to get the matches finished.

Daniela just broke to 15 to go 2-1 up in the third.
2-2, Torro-Flor breaks back.
3-2, Daniela breaks back to 30.
3-3, Daniela broken to 15. Her serve and groundstrokes lack penetration.
3-4, Torro-Flor holds to 30, was 40-0 up but Daniela couldn't get to deuce.
