I hope Daniela hasn't used all her good tennis this year, already.

Another early loss at Indian Wells.

This sucks big time. Klara barely wins a match all year and plays really well when it mattered.

Not sure what to say about Daniela. Something was off-off-big time. So many double faults and no penetration in her shots. The stadium was empty there was no atmosphere and Daniela was really sluggish.

Hope doubles is better and she has a better miami.

Ula Radwanska and Koukalova are now two players on my blacklist...

I just don't know what to say about this. Koukalova has been absolutely crap all year and yet she plays great against Daniela while Daniela has an off day.

I blame Bieber, what a cunt.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Just before the match Daniela and Klara were filmed chatting and giggling off court. As nice as that was to see that they get along I don't think Daniela had a game face on as much as she should have. I know I said before she should go out and enjoy her playing but sometimes one can be too relaxed and it can be hard to generate your best shots. I think Daniela should cut down the small talk and be less "nice". It sends a more threatening message to her opponents. You definitely wouldn't have seen Sharapova laughing away and gossiping to her opponent before a match. I know I'm clutching at straws but Daniela was SO poor last night and I'm just trying to find a reason.

As usual, I waited a day to speak my piece after disaster. By doing so, I'm able to bring a teensy weensy portion of solace. Daniela and Karin, 6-1, 6-4. Dani served out both sets.
I have found another amazing thing about our gal. Every so often, even after a most horrific, frustrating, and incredulously baffling loss, which this certainly was, Daniela does me good. My daughter is getting married tomorrow, guys. She is not a Daniela Maniac at all. Had she faced Keys tomorrow and it took place during the wedding reception, my daughter would have smoldered had she caught me checking the live scores and possibly not spoken to me for years. So all things considered, and recognizing fully how brutal this loss is, Daniela did me a favor. I tip my cap to her.

Let's Go, Daniela!

Oh by the way, speaking of the game that made it 5-0 in the second, how is it possible to serve five double faults, not cash in four game points, escape three break points, and somehow win the game? In a number of ways, that game was a synopsis of Daniela's career!
And I get you totally, eddy, about Dani prior to the match. At the same time, that's who she is, and I have to believe that in at least a few of the 537 wins, Daniela was giggling with her opponent before the match. Let it be.

Let's Go, Daniela!

Fair point Alex!

Yes what a great win in doubles. Would be nice for a good run here in doubles to make up for her early loss in singles.

Most of the Czech/Slovak girls engage in a small talk if they meet somewhere, I would not read too much into it. Being on the tour is a lonely business and I know how hard it can be to be alone or with just one other person for a longer period of time. These small talks with other people are a welcomed break, plus Daniela could speak in her first language, which I guess she welcomed too.
Look at whom she beat in Pattaya, Mladenovic, her final opponent, lost in 1R too. Daniela's form ain't fantastic and Klara knows how to play her. Let's hope for a good result in doubles.

Welcome back, martin, I hope you're going to be back a lot more.Thank you, my interest in tennis has returned somewhat. I followed Daniela's results in 2010-2014, but was not too thrilled about it. It's her Pattaya win what re-sparked my interest in tennis. That and the recent success of Safarova, Pliskova and other czech girls, mainly all those youngsters. We're witnessing a renaissance of czech women's tennis. Vaidisova's comeback is also an interesting story.

Daniela will play today after all, but likely not until my daughter's reception is over. Dani and Karin face #5 seeds Muguruza and Suarez Navarro on court 9 after a singles and doubles match. Play ststarts soon after 11:00 AM California time, with the doubles match not to begin until after 12:30. Best of luck to Daniela.

Let's Go, Daniela!
