A good decision to enter Strasbourg as opposed to Brussels, although less points on offer here. In previous years when Daniela has played Premier Warsaw it's been an opportunity to gain alot of points, but that's been facilitated by the fact that few of the very top players competed in Poland when the event moved to the week before RG. Brussels, with the same calendar slot, have done a much better job in attracting top-ten players.

Still, with a good run in Strasbourg Daniela could gain alot of confidence going into RG and then the grass season, which in some ways is more important than gaining ranking points.

Daniela will be seeded 6 (although she'll be the fifth-highest ranked player in the draw come Monday). Bartoli will be playing in front of home fans and would be a tough quarter-final opponent for Daniela, but certainly beatable. As are the other three top seeds (Petkovic, Ivanovic, Rezai) given how she's been playing.

Two matches to win before Daniela satisfies her seeding though, and with floaters like Medina-Garrigues, Halep, and Dokic, she could face a tough opener.

Daniela should just enjoy this tournament and play confidently. Would be wonderful to see if she can make a first clay final here but if she doesn't then at least she'll have more days off before RG. She may still withdraw if she's aching a bit from rome.

Hopefully Daniela can have a good run here and go into Roland Garros with momentum. There are quite a few good players here and some dangerous floaters, but Daniela's been playing well lately so she can do well here. It's also an opportunity for her to gain points to help her get a Wimbledon seeding.
Strasbourg's fairly close to Paris so there won't be too much travelling which hurt her chances at Roland Garros in 2009 when she played Warsaw. Doing well in Strasbourg will be nice, but Roland Garros is the important one.

Terrific draw. Larsson could be a bit tricky but quarter-finals here at least shouldn't be a problem.

Larsson is pretty solid on clay (she was a semi-finalist in Acapulco and Estoril), and has also had a win against Li Na this year on hardcourts. That being said, Daniela should be too tough for her, although I wouldn't be that surprised if the match went to three sets.

Potential second round opponents are both very beatable, despite the fact that Johansson would have home support. Certainly a good chance of reaching the quarter-finals.

Nice that Daniela managed to avoid Ivanovic's section, as well as some of the dangerous floaters like Dokic, Halep and Cornet in the early rounds.

Fairly decent draw. I'd expect Daniela to be able to beat Larsson easily enough. Larsson got to the Protoroz final last year beating Pavlyuchenkova on the way and she beat Li Na in Miami, although Li basically blew it. That's the only top 50 win Larsson's had this year and her only other win of note was against Greta Arn in Acapulco. Generally, whenever Larsson's played a good player this year they've beaten her pretty easily. Daniela still has to respect Larsson as an opponent and play good tennis.

Johansson got to the final in Bogota this year and won a set against Kleybanova in Estoril but hasn't done much else recently. She won a set against Daniela at the Australian Open a couple of years ago. Amanmuradova has had a lot of first round exits defeats this year and Daniela thrashed her in Pattaya. She did beat Jankovic on the way to the Cincinnati quarter-final last year.

Petrova's the seeded opponent for the quarter-final and she's got a good record against Daniela although she's not had that great a year and the other players in that section are fairly decent.

Daniela's got a good chance of doing well here and going into Roland Garros with momentum but she has to focus on getting past Larsson first.

This match is pretty terrible. Daniela doesn't have to do much. Good that she's doing just enough, though.

Close it, Danka.
