Something must keep the forum alive during the off-season

2002
Best: Aus Open R32 vs. Williams 63 06 46, the only time she has ever won a set against Venus. Or Zurich R16 bt. Dementieva 35 76 76. Was down with mps in the 2nd set, but had amazing comeback, and fought until the end. Amazing watch. Other matches worth mentioning: Indian Wells R16 (bt Henin), Indian Wells Final and US Open R16 (bt Henin 76 in 3rd set tiebreak)
Worst: Eastbourne SF vs. Myskina 26 16, she was not herself in that match, totally un-present (if that is a word)

2003
Best: Sydney QF vs. Davenport 46 63 67, I don't remember any really well-played or good matches from 2003, except this one. She should have won.
Worst: Wimbledon R64 vs. Asagoe 60 46 10-12.

2004
Best: Eastbourne SF bt. Mauresmo 46 64 64
Worst: Quebec Ciry R16 vs. Gloria 36 62 16, losing to an unranked player. Can't have been a pretty match

2005
Best: Zurich R16 vs. Davenport 63 57 26. Davenport was number 2 at the time, and advanced to number 1 in the next rankings, but Daniela was the better player until serving for the match in the second. I think I remember the commentator saying that the match didn't look like number 2 vs. 19, but more as two top5 players.
Worst: Luxembourg QF vs. Dechy 16 46, I think this was a match in which she played really uninspiring tennis after a beautiful win in R16

2006
Best: Zurich Final vs. Sharapova 16 64 36. Even though she lost, I like the match. Very nervous in the first set, but played freely and beautifully in the 2nd and 3rd. A runner-up could be the Aus Open R32 vs. Serena, she had a tactic going into the match and played according to the plan in the first set especially.
Worst: Doha R16 vs. Li, 64 67 61, had two mps at 51 2nd set, and two at 5-3 (all four in own serve)

2007
Best: Doha QF bt. Hingis 16 64 64. Was down 16 14 I think, and then played amazing tennis to win. Such a great match to watch
Worst: Berlin R64 vs. Ondraskova 16 36, didn't see it, but can't have been pretty. Also a candidate: Wimbledon R16 vs. Serena 26 76 26, terrible 3rd set, she should have won. Even served a serve that bounced on her own side of the net.

2008
Best: Aus Open QF bt. Radwanska 62 62 - revenging her loss from Zurich in 2007, and getting past the QF for the very first time. Can't really find other candidates
Worst: Zurich R32 vs. Kirilenko 57 26 - plays a competitive first serve (maybe even leading) and then collapsing after being broken in the very end. She This also happened in Indian Wells vs Masha and in Luxembourg vs Cirstea, but I think the one against Makiri was the worst.

2009
Best: def. Cibulkova 67*4 76*13 10-8 in French Open Final
Worst: repeating the SF loss at the Aus Open to Ivanovic

Of all the slams you pick her worst, and you make it a nail biter as well?! Well I guess with Daniela, anything is, literally, possible!!!

well it was a difficult decision between this one, and then beating Venus on grass at Wimbledon 75 75 in the final. Winning a match against Venus finally really counted high, and then at Wimbledon, but Venus really helped with 15 DFs. Beating a fellow Slovak on what Daniela thinks is her own worst surface and then holding nerves like that in her first GS final. So sweet.

I think we're all in cloud-cuckoo land lol! It's what the off-season does to us!

My Best and worst:

2005 - WORST Lost 3r to Dementieva AUS OPEN 57 75 46 - it was so agonisingly close!
Rome-Lost 1r Mamic 61 62

BEST SF LA Beat Dementieva 63 64
2R US OPEN Completely outclassed Salerni 61 60

2006 WORST Lost 2R Antwerp to Savchuk 36 46
Lost 3R Miami to Daniilidou 36 64 26
Lost 4R Wimbledon to Henin 36 16 (Had no answers-almost embarrassing)
Lost 3R LA to Serena 61 36 36 (after winning 1st set so easily folded also "bumping" incident)

BEST 3R AUS OPEN Beat Serena 61 76
3R ROLAND GARROS Beat Dechy 63 36 10-8 EPIC!
3R WIMBLEDON Beat Srebotnik 64 76 Played amazing!
2R Stuttgart Beat Safina 62 62! (The score says it all!)
SF Zurich Beat Kuznetsova 64 62! (The score says it all!)

I actually think that 2006 was a great year for Daniela even though she did not progress into the quarters very much. She was 99% always competitive in matches, and it she showed great determination to set up 2007 brilliantly.
