I saw the first set of the match, but then I had to go to court 3 to support Caroline Wozniacki in her match against Golovin. I took a lot of pictures of Dominika and I'll post them (with all the other pictures I took during the week) once I get the time. Probably this week. |

It would be great if Dominika defeated Shazza, here in Italy... I think she has an advantage on clay... red clay |

Dominika has shown a huge improvement in her game over the last few months and by the looks of things she gave the new world number 1 a run for her money, one day these close calls will turn into wins and maybe Dominika will become the Agnes Szavay (causing upsets and breaking into the top 20) of 2008 Scott |

From tournaments website: "15/05/2008 17:44 SHARAPOVA AVOIDS THRILLER SEQUEL New world number 1 manages to close in 2 sets After her late night marathon versus Svetana Cibulkova , Maria Sharapova definetly wanted to avoid another 3 set battle...." |

Dominika played well and really pushed Shazza, although Shazza did make a lot of errors - 12 DFs for instance -but that largely because of how good Dominika's retrieving was. It was a shame she couldn't pick up another big win like her win against Venus in Doha, but Dominika can take a lot of positives from this match and can look to Roland Garros with a lot of confidence and I don't think anyone will want to play her there. I was really hoping that Yuri Sharapov would have a heart attack because he was looking stressed as hell, but his ticker and his daughter held out. Boo! |

Sorry. Maybe I should create a thread about Jarmila Gajdosova but I'm not sure... Is she still Slovakian ? It seems to me that, during the Australian open, she was Australian, and now, she seems to be Slovakian again (according to Roland-Garros and WTA websites)... |

A Slovak journalist said that Dominika Cibulkova had a love affair with Gaƫl Monfils ! It's why they'll play the mixed double together. Sorry. Maybe I should create a thread about Jarmila Gajdosova but I'm not sure... Is she still Slovakian ? It seems to me that, during the Australian open, she was Australian, and now, she seems to be Slovakian again (according to Roland-Garros and WTA websites)... Look at that : |
