Comfortable enough win for Federer. He was always controlling the match and while Roddick gave a bit of resistance in the second & third sets, Federer was always the more threatening on return and eventually got the breakthrough.
I've got to say that Roddick made a great shot in the third set when he lined up what looked like a big groundstroke to the baseline but instead dropped the ball into the service box with it spinning sideways on landing. Great disguise and execution.

I think Verdasco's this year's Stepanek as both their women have been playing a lot worse since they got together. I hope Verdasco's relationship lasts a very long time.

Ana and Verdasco have already broken up.

Balls, they seemed like such a nice couple.

^^ haha, you have to give it to Roddick, he fought extremely hard after Federer killed him in the first set, the tennis produced the the last two sets was fantastic to watch! and boy did the umpire cop it from Andy all night haha

Very good match - the longest in Australian Open history I think.
Verdasco served the best I've ever seen him serve, and played really aggresive. But I'm glad Nadal has gone through because I think he has a better chance against Federer and I don't want Federer to get 14 slams (not just yet anyway).

It was about time Nadal had a workout, he'd had it a bit too easy so far.

But it was a great match with incredible shotmaking, shifts of momentum and great drama. The rally at deuce at 5-4 in the second set was astonishing with a superlative winner from Nadal, I was  then  afterwards.

Like George said, if Verdasco had gotten to break point at 4-4 in the fifth, then I'm pretty sure he'd have won but he couldn't get the return of the second serve. I think the disappointment of missing out carried over to the next game for Verdasco.

What a match.

5 hours and 14 minutes, the longest match in Aus open history! what a fantastic match, it had everything. The effort from Verdasco was so unbelievable, his shot making in the 4th set tie break was amazing to watch. It was amazing how his energy like reappeared from no-where after he was struggling so much!
congrats to Rafa and good luck being able to back up and take on Federer after a match like that, amazing stuff

The match was amazing. It had everything. Anyway, as long as I really was amazed with all that effort Fernando put in his game, I think it was a quite bad day for Rafa. It was sometimes sad to see him struggling on scoring points. It looked different.

Thanks god I recorded that match.
After watching the 5 hours yesterday evening, I have to say that that was one of the best and most exciting matches I have ever seen.

Also Federer will be glad after watching that SF. He will know now, that Nadal will have only little chances to win the final after more then 5 hours against Verdasco.

well, it took a while until I felt I could write this..
I guess you all saw the men's final or at least know the result.

It was such a moving and emotional moment when Federer couldn't speak and started to cry..
I think I do understand him at least a little bit, he wanted this win against Rafa so much and had chances to win this match, like in Wimbledon. But losing again and again to Rafa must be incredibly humiliating, no matter how often Roger won a slam..

Later Rafa apoligized for beating Roger and he really felt sorry in some way... great words from Nadal!!

why can't there be two champions?
