I was very happy that Simon win against Federer..
Both are my favorite but Simon is lower seed, I normally support a lower seed..
Haha..

Federer now has to win against both Andys if he doesn't want to rely on a miracle..

Big pressure now for Roger in next two matches. Especially against Murray will be hard.

BTW Nadal will also not play at the Davis Cup final due to his injury. Now I think Spain won't have great chances against Nalbandian and Del Potro.

A big shock for me was that Radek Stepanek was the first alternate and he was 26th in the race. I'd have thought that someone higher ranked would want to turn up but evidently it's a very long season and they're all knackered or preparing for the Davis Cup or next year, although Ferrer has a lot of points to defend from last year so I thought he'd want to defend them, but he's giving Davis Cup priority. The off-season is so short that most players don't want to disrupt their holidays, rest and recuperation to wait around and maybe play at the Masters Cup, regardless of the money and points.

Simon played well to beat Federer and he did play some incredible points, but for the most part it was Federer not getting first serves in and making errors that decided the match.
Murray and Simon have similar styles but Murray's the far more talented player so he won easily enough and Murray has to be the favourite for the tournament given his position and recent form although we'll see what happens in the final group games. Federer always has a great chance in any tournament he's still in.

Djokovic has been playing his best tennis for a while to get through, although Davydenko had his chances but blew them in their match while it seems like Tsonga used up his lives in Paris and didn't have any left for Shanghai. The knockout round starts early for Davydenko and Del Potro.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Djokovic was the best player at the start of the year, then Nadal was the best, Federer was the best when he won the US Open, then Murray was the best but Djokovic was the best at the end. Whoever winning's the best.

If Djokovic had beaten Tsonga he'd be number 2, but he chilled in the third set so he was rested and refreshed for the semi, while Murray knacked himself beating Federer, but Federer was gimpy himself, what a great match though.
If you've already qualified you should be quaffing champagne and smoking a cigar at the changeovers - shows you're relaxed and a winner, I mean who drinks energy drinks or water at the victory celebration, champagne is the nectar of champions.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

i am expecting much more competitive 2009 season.
i dont think nadal can repeat his dominant 2008 season.neither federer can have seasons like 2003-2007
from now and on i am excepcting 5-6 players to battle for the majors
federer-nadal era belongs in the past.have reached their limit
the others can improve more and more
personal thoughts

Anyone saw Acasuso vs. Verdasco?
That was one of the lowest quality I have ever seen. Insulting to tennis and fans.

It's hard to play, for some players, when the crowd is up your ass all the time. I'd like to see a re-match, one that promises nothing will go wrong. Please.

I never expected Spain to win the Davis Cup Final against Argentina after Nadal withdrew. That was really a surprise.

Congratulations to Emilio Sanchez and his team. BTW, Sanchez retired after the final.
