wow  he must have been very tired.

I can't believe it.

Rafa lost to Juan-Carlos. I knew this point will come, but why now???

better now, than against Federer in Roland Garros :P
I think he should withdraw from Hamburg as well. Save the energy for RG.

Yeah you are absolutely right Carsten. I also tought it would be better for Rafa to scip Hamburg.
Thank god he didn't lost to Roger in Monte Carlo.

Pretty astonishing win by Stepanek. Federer wasn't really at his very best - he had quite a few mishits - but you have to give a lot of credit to Stepanek who did serve well, especially his two service winners at 2-5 down in the second set tie-break to get him back into it because if Federer had gotten to 6-2 or 6-3 he'd surely have won the set and almost certainly the match. At least Federer did better than last year and extends his ranking lead over Nadal. It's hard to say which one will be more concerned by this. If Nadal lost just because of his blisters and having an off-day but if he's burning out or his body's breaking down then that has to be a big concern for him especially as his physical condition and energy are so important to his success, while Federer seemed to be getting back on track but gets upset here so you wonder if this is a blip. We'll see what happens in Hamburg but there's still quite a bit to play in Rome.

Radek is the man. :bananasrock:
Can't say anything cause I didn't watch it. But it seems he held his nerves in key moments, which he usually struggles with against the top players.

so it seems like Roddick will win the tournament :D

ATP Masters Rom Semifinals

Djokovic - Stepanek 6-0, 1-0ret.
Wawrinka - Roddick 3-0ret.

so in both matches one player had to retire...
Though i must say that the final between Djokovic and Wawrinka promisses to be interesting. Head2Head

I hope Wawrinka can kick Djokovic's ass. But honestly I expect a win by Djokovic.

too pitty both semis to finish by ret.only half an hour of playing :o
djokovic into final by two ret.
from an previous wawrinkas interview,in some point said

TM: But in the Swiss press, it's bound to be less space for you, all the more now that Martina Hingis also makes the headlines. How do you live this situation?
SW: It's true he gives the impression to take all the place and that's of course the case. As he wins almost all the time, for many people, I'm a bit the Swiss guy who loses (smiles). But when it comes to the media, I'm also the Swiss who stays accessible as, unlike Roger, I don't have many international journalists interested in me (smiles).

its really hard for a player to live in the shadow of his compatriot
but huge credits and congrats to wawrinka for his improvement
next monday will be 10 :astonished: :astonished:

if djokovic wins tommorow and after hamburgs points off the difference will be 85 points
and are in same half in hamburg.on paper a potential sf between the two will determine
the No 2 seed for roland :astonished:

Djokovic was very good against Almagro and Stepanek although as they both retired, it's difficult to say exactly how good. I don't think the crowd have forgiven Stepanek for beating Federer yesterday given the reaction when he retired, that and they wanted a bit more tennis. Djokovic has to be the favourite although Wawrinka's had a good run and doesn't have any pressure, plus he's into the top ten.

Like George said, if Djokovic wins Rome and Hamburg he replaces Nadal as no 2. Guillermo Vilas will give his sympathy to Nadal if that happens, as he was the previous longest serving number 2 who never got to number 1, although Nadal still has time to get there.

Too bad Djokovic won Rome. But nevertheless, I don't think he will be 2nd after Hamburg.

Gonzo gears up for Oktoberfest, Gael Monfils wonders where his life's gone wrong or at least about getting a new agent.
