Didn't see the match between Federer and Hewitt, but seems like Roger had no problems against Lleyton. A bit of a surprise for me. Expected Lleyton to make a better performance. :(

But also Rafa had no problems against Youzhny.

Tough matche between Baghdatis and Lopez. And of course also between Ancic and Verdasco.

Also interesting match between Gasquet and Murray at the moment. Doesn't look good for Andy right now.

Impressive wins by Federer and Nadal and it looks like they're going to be in final again. Safin had another good win and he'll give Federer a test and he does have the memory of the great win from the 2005 Australian Open, although Federer has won the recent meetings. Whatever happens, Marat can take a lot from this tournament and hopefully he can build on this - and his Hamburg run - for the rest of the year.
I think if Schuettler or Clement were to beat Nadal, it would be the biggest shock in years. Murray's much better than either of them and Nadal dominated the match. It's about as close to a bye as is possible in a slam semi-final. If it were up to me, I'd just replace them with Djokovic and let Novak play Rafa instead which would be much more fun.

Really impressive win by Rafa. He almost destroyed Murray in the QF. Would love to see Rafa winning the final against Roger. And I think this in not impossible.

Schuettler was in the final of AO 2003 where he lost to Agassi, which started a great season for him, when he even participated at the year ending masters tournament. He is a good player. And what do you know, men's tennis is much more about match-ups than women's game, maybe Shuettler can find something what will work against Nadal. You are right that it would be a big surprise, but everything is possible. Bye is a rather strong word imo.

I think anything other than a Nadal Federer final would be a shock. We all know that Safin can beat Federer on his day and he has had a great run but to be fair this is Federer's surface so cant see him shocking the number 1. If Nadal produces even half of what he produced against Murray he will get through. Im not saying he only needs to play at 50% to win the match, im saying that his performance against Murray was out of this world in terms of shot making and all round play, i mean he lost 10 points on his serve, just 10!!

Federer after his victory against Safin about the increasing pressure by Nadal

i really hope that he will remain the grasscourt king..

The final everybody expected. No problems for the two favourites in the SF.

I hope Nadal can beat Federer this year. ;)

Shüttler was actually far from being a walkover. In 1st set Nadal demolished him, but in 2nd the German was quite close to take it under his belt 6-4, but linesmen robbed him of one point - he could have been 15-0 up when one of his 1st serves touched the line and Nadal netted return but it was called out, Shüttler didn't challenge, had to go over 2nd serve, lost the point, couldn't resist the pressure and got broken. But he really took it to Nadal in that set and played many good rallies with him, not bad for a 32 years old who went through a long five setter in the previous round.

I've got to give Schuettler a lot of credit as he did a lot better than I thought he would and he was competitive, particularly in the second set.

Tomorrow's final is really shaping up as an epochal match with so much significance. If Federer wins he'll have had the most consecutive wins of a slam in the open era and I think the most since the 1920s and the most consecutive Wimbledon championships since the 19th century plus he'll only be one slam behind Sampras's record; while if Nadal wins he'll be the first man since Borg in 1980 to win Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year, the first player since Kafelnikov in the 90s who won his first slam at Roland Garros and goes on to win one of the other slams and the first Spanish man to win since 1966. I also think this is the first year that two men have played in the final of two different slams in three consecutive years.

Beyond the history, there's the magnitude of the meeting with the two best players of recent years with the status of top player at stake as a Nadal win would mean someone would have won more slams in a year than Federer for the first time since 2002 and Nadal would be in a great position to reach the number one spot later in the year, while Federer's looking to re-assert his dominance. Whatever happens, it should be a great match.
